Hi Pappaw,
I am a retired Lightrail Controller. I tried to keep the trains on different tracks.... lol. I also drove the trains for 8 yrs. That was a blast, like playing with a big toy.!! Sorry we were not Heavy Rail trains, we were the passenger trains for Denver, operated street level, no subway. We left Denver Jan. 2nd 2012 and are fulltime camping in the southwest. We are in the Lake Mohave and Lake Mead area now south of Vegas.

Hi Gang,
We have gone over some security questions here on the forum a few times. I learned that some of the badguys do not even mess with the locks anymore, they just snip the two little latches with the hole in them for the lock to go through that the handle sits in. The stealing the whole trailer badguys try to hook up at the tongue and go. The doors are covered protecting the latch and lock, and the tongue is also covered. As with any theft device it keeps the lazy badguy away and looking elsewhere, but can be worked around if the real badguy is determined.

Good morning.
Where did you ever find those locks? I've never
Seen anything like them. They look very heavy duty.
How about cost?
I've always also gone with a cable wrapped through the
Trailer wheels as well. That will also slow down the bad-guys.
Send some pics of your Solar Panels. I'm interested in
Possibly using some also.

Hi GM,
Here is the website for SnatchLatch... http://www.snatchlatch.com/ ... you can also get it on Amazon.
The Steal Shield can be found here.... http://stealshield.net/ ... There are videos for both on the websites.
As soon as I can find a tree to hang from, I will take a couple pics of the solar panels for ya ..... lol.

Where do you live where you feel you have to secure your trailer like this?
Yes, these are good productions, but as far as my trailer goes, if they want it they will get it.
My trailer is stored in a secured gated RV storage lot and then locked inside a covered storage unit that has doors that also has a lock.
It is the other stuff in the storage unit that I am more concerned about.
I have one of these for when I need to store the trailer outside of the lot. http://www.etrailer.com/Locks/Tow-Ready/63226.html
It cost only $24 when I bought it.
And my small utility trailer has one of these http://www.etrailer.com/Locks/Master-Lock/378DAT.html
That I picked up on sale at Walmart for $15
I never worry about locking the trailer that securely where ever I camp.
I guess if you live in a city and store your trailer on your driveway you would want something like you have.

Hi Cam_Tx,
We live wherever we stop to camp. We are retired fulltime campers. We boondock most of the time in the deserts and off dirt roads in the National and State forests out here in the southwest. We leave the trailer when we go out with the truck 4X4'ing and sightseeing around the area we are in, and to run into a town to resupply. Sometimes we get caught between destinations and pull into a motel for the night. We do not stay at the Hyatt, usually a Stop & Go Motel on the other side of town..... lol. The lock system we use makes us feel a little better, considering all the "stuff" we own is in the trailer. We do not have a house, apartment, or storage facility. The trailer and tent are our "mobile house", so the few things we have left we want to try and keep..... lol.

Camping southern Arizona 30 miles north of Mexico, in the Sonoran Desert, .... very cool place.

I don't feel I live or camp in a rough area, but there is always the first time.
Most people buy a safe the day after they were robbed.
I think any type of lock system should slow them down long enough for someone to see them before they get away.

Hi Gang, Here are some picks of the Solar Panels from different angles for you to check out. I went up to Eugene/Springfield OR, to get the solar system installed at AM Solar. You can check out their website, and for the handyman you can order from the website and install yourself. They are one of the top RVer Fulltimer Solar companies. They are great to work with and know what the RVer or Camper really needs to boondock.

Hi Gang, I added the Safety Marker Tape to the rear and side of my trailer. I was made aware of how this is a good idea one night while crawling through a camping area in pitch dark. I was making kind of a half circle to turn around to the left in a dirt with a few trees open area and saw the small motorhome camper. So I was going to swing around behind it .... until my lights came around and picked up the RED & WHITE reflector tape on the side of a flat trailer behind the motorhome. !! Wow, the trailer was all black and had nothing loaded on it. I did not see it. It would have been very difficult for me with my trailer to get out of there if I had not seen the reflector tape in time, it really saved me a big back-up turnaround hassle. I think it is a good idea to be seen when my lights are off at night by approaching lights.

Wow, you dropped some coin there! Looks like you've got 400 watts worth of panels, that should take care of you. :applause:
What controller did you get?

Hi Road Doggie,
Funny you should ask .... I am doing the insulation now. After freezing in southern New Mexico in January at night, I decided to check out the insulation that I had added as an option when I ordered the trailer. They had bubble insulation on the walls, ceiling and floor. The bubble on the walls was just hung with masking tape, and not sealed off at top or bottom. It was one piece all the way around the walls from left rear door to right rear door. One piece on the ceiling and one on the floor.

I am in Las Vegas staying with my niece, so I am able to do the insulation project here. I am adding one inch styrofoam sheets and then will put the bubble over that before I put the plywood back on. That should keep us warm at night next winter, and hold the heat from our little heater. Here are a couple pics for ya.....

I am sure you have seen most all will add some kind of insulation. The bubble was not enough for us, so now we will have both one inch and bubble. I would recommend at least the one inch for your trailer. The Haulmark is a great trailer we love it, I bet you will have fun with yours.
