I had the same buying experience.
One thing you guys never said, it costs about $1.50 per mile for shipping that your local dealer must add to the price. The guy with the used CT in your town may wanna get some of his money back for his travel costs. Then there is a hassle involved getting a new CT registered, in calif you need a weight certificate and a physical inspection at the DMV for first time register. There goes another 1/2 day or more. Once it's registered it's good for $100 for 5 years, so sitting in your driveway costs nothing.
Someone might need his CT for a long cross country move and needs his tonight? Having a CT sit in your driveway is cheaper then public storage, after 3 years the trailer is free and clear. There are lots of advantage to owning at CT.
If you drive to the factory for pick up and it's 500 miles, there go $750 and your time for a 1000 mile quick 2-3 day round trip. Time is money.
The trip to the factory becomes worth it if there are a lot of goodies that you want ???
