Here is the plan for the front section of the trailer.

Image

Also I loaded up my cart in the back of the trailer and noticed it bowed the floor a little bit because all the weight is directly over two of the cross-members and not spread out since it is on caster wheels. I'm planning on adding a few more cross members just to make sure I don't have any problems in the future.

I will also have barn doors but at nite I leave me back latches undone and put latch on inside so if need be I can push open the back Just as a reminder you might want to come up with a way to latch (lock) the latches open some campers might think its funny to come by and lock you in.

This is exactly why I posted in another link, concerns about this issue and asked whether there are any windows out there that you could push out (I used the words "kicked" out before, but that was just an example) should this happen. I may look for larger windows that I could open and crawl out if needed. Thank goodness I lost that 20 lbs recently.

I'm going to borrow bc toys idea! I saw on his build post when he installed it. The escape windows that I have seen do not have screens. I prefer all my windows to be fully functional.

I like the front plan. Don't put your sink smack-dab in the middle of the counter. To one side and you will have more usable space.

Reminds me. I was staying with an elderly neighbor for a few hours. When I went to make her a sandwich, there was absolutely no place in the entire kitchen for me to lay out the two pieces of bread. That's a messy kitchen (not her fault, but the daughters)

There is a trick you can borrow from the RV world to increase counter size. RV supply stores sell cutting boards that will fit different sinks. They are cut where they sit over the lip of the sink. If their boards don't fit your sink, you take a white poly cutting board and cut it to fit over the sink. :designing: Then take another board and cut it where it fits just inside the sink. Attach the two together one on top of the other however you fell will work best for you. IMHO I would counter-sink stainless screws and glue from bottom to top being careful not to go all the way thru. The smaller bottom board will fit inside your sink keeping the top board from sliding around. Now you have a little more counter space. Since space is at a premium in a CT, a little can seem like a lot. I have seen some that have a 45 deg cut removing one corner. This leaves an opening to push cut pieces of food into the sink out of your way. If you have a router it is much easier to do. Get a thick cutting board and route it out about 1/2 thickness so the bottom will fit inside the sink. My 2 cents worth.

I picked up some unfinished cabinets to test fit into the front of the trailer and a mini fridge with a freezer. I also decided to keep it a little simpler right now and not install the shower. Most of the places I will take this will be in State Parks with showers and I can always use a portable camp shower if they don't. I also like the idea of keeping all of the "permanent" cabinets and stuff up in the "V" just in case I ever want to haul something bigger in the trailer in the future.

I got some work done over the long weekend. The front cabinets are installed and stained! I'm now working up the courage to cut out the hole for the 2nd window I bought for the passenger side of the trailer, for some reason I only ordered it with one window. I also have rear stabilizer jacks, powered roof vent, and closeable side vents to install still.

Done, I'm planning on taking it to a professional to do the counter-top. I don't want to try and cut out the "V" shape :frightened:

I like it. But why did you decide not to do the "V" shape as noted in your first post?
I was thinking about doing the same as your sketch showed.

When I got all the cabinets and the fridge in the trailer and started moving them around it seemed like trying to make it all "V" shaped would add a lot of extra work and all the cabinets would end up having very odd internal shapes. Also the side door being close to the "V" limited the overall cabinet depth to something nonstandard. It was a lot easier and It seems like I have better cabinet space going with them straight across. Plus there is a small area in the front of the V behind the cabinets which will hide all my electrical stuff now so it won't be taking up space in a cabinet either.

Looks like you will have a tremendous amount of counter space. A good thing.

I got my 2nd window installed last night. It is an 18inx42in slider. First thing I did was cut out a notch for my horizontal brace. Then I welded it in place along with a vertical brace to set the window position.

Image

Then I cut out the window opening. I used a circular saw with an aluminum blade for the straight cuts and a small air powered auto body saw for the rounded corners.

Then I sealed and installed the window

Here's a picture from this morning with some better light

I did mess up and marked the cut in the wood upside-down so the back side of the panel is showing, not really a big deal. It just means i have more paining to do now... :?
