I think it's rare to find a used trailer that is 6.1/2 or taller so I ordered mine and I paid 5000.00 in 2010 but I did have it built 7ft tall and I had a window and the rv screen door put in and also the rear stabilizer jacks all really worth the money, I spent 400.00 on the aluminum rims and I bought RV decals to dress it up some.
I did spend a lot making the inside look and feel like a mancave so the time I did spend in it I would be more comfortable, if I were to do it again I would like to have a 7x20 ft and a nicer bathroom set up with holding tanks.
I have thought about doing a remodel and adding a better bathroom and toilet with holding tanks but I just don't want to spend the money or the time to make it a little nicer than what I have now.
The thing about doing it yourself is you can make it as bare bones and simple as you want, and know how to fix it if something goes wrong.

Yeah I'm a contractor so doing this won't be hard for me. I won't be living in the trailer 24x7 so it wont bother me. I'll be working and in the warmer months if I'm "home" Ill have table an chairs sitting outside or doing work on the trailer. I'm always on the move doing something. It's a place to sleep and on bad weather days stay inside and watch movies, internet or play some video games. People always say they can't live in a small place but even in large homes they are in one room 90% of the time. Plus if I get too caged up I can just hop in my truck and drive somewhere and do something. There are people on youtube who live in conversion and cargo vans now that is something I could NOT do...yet they are happy. Everyone is different.

I have watched a lot of youtube videos about people that live full time in RV's and I think I could do that if I had too but I wonder for how long?
I think staying in one spot and enjoying being outside a lot would be ok, but having to move around everyday looking for a place to stay would get really old fast.

Yeah I couldn't do that either moving around all the time. That's the beauty of a cargo trailer I don't have to take it with me everywhere. If I have to go to the store I can just unhitch it and go in my truck. With RVs you drive your home everywhere unless you have another vehicle. But with an RV you are going to have a problem parking in most places and they will kick you out. With a cargo trailer they think it's just a contractor which I am

Hey Eddie

Actually I live in the ghetto .... No sh** !! Downtown silicon valley San Jose Ca
I wanted to build a nice house but got old too fast ... & it's to expensive here
You will get there too .... Give it some time
Came up with trailer idea looking at tiny houses - where they wanted $50k insane

My trailer idea is basically one of a kind ......in the USA
A Airstream Bamby is $60k - they are a dime a dozen
I liked A Domanie trailer $60k also
Most trailers are cheap & break 24/7 - on mine I can fix everything

I wanna put 100,000 or more miles driving around so for the money
It's not really that far off base - of course for a cargo trailer it is way over the top.

The BEST FUN .... Is telling people I'm so poor I can't even afford to become RV trailer trash as it costs $1000 + per month park rent
I tell them I'm becoming cargo trailer trash because I can only afford free street parking.
This is my retirement after working 30 years in Silicon Valley

It really freaks them out as I deal with people who pay cash for $1 million homes :D :D
It's mostly all in just good fun ......

In 1970 my uncle a engineer had a ugly Bug that did almost 120 on the autobahn
It's was priceless kicking butt of a guy in a suit & a new Porsche or Audi - PRICELESS !!

I purchased a 6x12 v nose used last summer. Mine is a Carry On brand. It is 6.5' tall and yes they are difficult to find. I agree however that if your are taller (I'm 6' tall) that it's non - negotiable for long term comfort. my trailer was 2 years old and I verified it only had about 2000 miles on it. I paid $2500 for it if I recall. It will serve my purposes once I get done with it, but I wouldn't buy it new. The main frame is built fairly well, but the walls are only Z channel. It also only came with 1/8'' luan on the walls - almost worthless for stiffening and as a wall surface. I think they did that to keep weight down as it was originally sold in Wyoming where they have a special license for trailers weighing under 1000 lbs empty - this one weighs 980 empty. I agree that you don't need to add $12K to $15K to make it comfortable, but it will probably cost me more than I wanted to spend. I'm going pretty simple, with few built ins, but I will probably still have another $1500 to $2000 in it when done and that is doing all the work myself.
