Is this typical of what others are using? I found them at around $10 each on ebay and I would like to find something lower in price as I want to use about 4-6 of them.
I will continue to search for them and do a search in this forum.

Problem is these blue sea only do 2.1 amps total - one amp per plug. You need the full 2.1 to charge iPads

I have used many (12+) of these and they've done well in all my vehicles + trailer

I installed two cigar / power outlets that I had in the "odds 'n' ends and leftovers" box. Then I use one of these SCOSCHE adapters in one of them. It's small and puts out a full 2.4 amps per port. Many 12 volt adapters that are rated 2.4 amps can only supply that amperage to one port at a time (it's in the fine print).

FYI, apparently many, maybe most, Android devices will not charge at a full rate when connected to a 12 volt / USB adapter plug with a cord that is also a USB 3.0 data cord. I noticed that with our Galaxy S5. I have a data only cord for use with this adpater and it charges as fast as being plugged into the wall at home.

Here's a link I saved (about adapters and cords.)

Thanks highflier,
I never realized that my iPad needed different USB ports.
On the photo I posted, won't the one USB plug marked 5v 2.1 amp work?

Also with the USB adapter you posted, do you wire that to a 12V plug or do you wire it directly to the 12V circuit?
Bob

And thank you MtnDon.
I do like this approach also as it might be lower in cost in the long run and simplies the wiring process. I will read your links this evening.

I added a Fantastic Fan and the toughest part of the job was getting the nerve up to make the first cut in the aluminum. But now one hole is done, the cutting for the window next week will not be so bad.

Built a wooden frame for the fan out of 1 x 4 scarps laying around the garage. Used Kreg Screws to assemble it. As I said before in a previous post, boy do I love Kreg screw assemblies!

I made my first mistake with this project. I did not make the inside dimensions large enough by about 1/2 in. Two of the mounting screws missed the 1 x 4 and came out to the side of the box. I have had no leaks from this mistake and I will fix it by taking them out and putting them back at a significant angle to hit the 1 x 4.

Coming along! Nice addition with the fan. Can you tell a bit more about the Kreg? Almost bought one the other day...but didn't. Maybe a silly question, but how does it work?

Good linl MtnDon.

I never knew there was so much to a USB charger. To me they were all the same. I will get Scosche plug to start off with.

This is a sketch of my concept. Be kind regarding my scale and line positioning. It is somewhat out of whack, but it should provide an idea of what I want the finished project to look like.

 Bob, I like your plan, but as you know as we all do... things will change :?

I have already started re-moding mine, took one shower wall off and extended the room with a curved shower curtain bar and thinking about moving the bed for more room!!

I bought a $2.49 tile trowel, unscrewed the black plastic handle and now mounted on side by RV door for entry support. I will never stop (the modifications) and I haven't even camped yet, hopefully by the April gathering at First Landing State Park.

Love to see the designs going into a build, as this helps visualize the progress. Mine was loosely to scale, but we all know that when you are building something from scratch, designs are dynamic.

Thanks for posting the design...

:pictures: please

I need to build two bars for mine:

- One for the toilet area
- One that will affix to the outside of the trailer and the open man door to provide an outdoor shower stall. Shower outside, step inside to dry and dress.

I will take photos tomorrow and post. I made my own out of 3/4" pvc, used my heat gun and slowly bent to the shape I needed. Even used one on the floor of the shower, well caulked of course, this prevents water run off. Pics will show what I mean.

I know things will change, but you have got to have some base to start from.

Bob, can you elaborate some more on the grab bar. I was going to look at SS shower/handicap grab bars. My fall from the trailer many weeks back drove that point home to me the hard way.

Professorkx, I was thinking of an outside shower, but in order to satisfy the tradition home front demands, I am trying to build a 24" x 36" shower where we can also include the porti Potti. If it works out right, I will not have to remove the Potti each time we want to use it or the shower. Our plans do call for only pee to go into the Potti. The other stuff will have to done in a camp ground facility or in the Tepee Privy we have.

Hey Bob, when I post pics tomorrow, you will see, but, speaking of shower bars, they make those LARGE trowels too. The handles would probably work for that. Google large hand trowels see if a pic comes up.

3/4" pvc heat gun used to make shape, hung up top and caulked on floor to omit water out. Need to add shower curtain.
