You don't need to cover the insulation. I painted mine, with UGL drylock to keep bees from drilling holes in it. As for dirt they stay fairly clean.Padilen wrote:

I was worried rocks and debris on the road would destroy it but after searching this site some more I saw people having good results without covering it. At this point I've already got the plastic sheets so I'll probably go ahead and use them.
