Isn't the cut in forefront going with the grain a groove? Don't want to get the dados and grooves mixed up. Just sayin. Lol :-)

Btw.. you got the router, just need a bit run the edges of the plywood to bevel them or etc.. Be careful to run the edges nice and slow.

I'm not a fan of routing the edge of plywood as it never seems to be a very smooth edge. You can glue and nail some 3/4" half round trim to cover the laminated edge of the ply.

You're right. If you go slow and sand a little bit, it looks okay painted.. not so sure about staining it with the visible laminates now further exposed.

Dude, again you have the vision and I bet you have been there done that, Haven't you? Donnie you to and here I am now. I will trim up my counter edges with 1x2 or something like that I did that with the cabinets.
I did in fact try to router the edges of some scrap 3/4 and well if you were using paint it might be ok but it just seemed crap, dont know how else to describe it.

I wish I would have purchased a piece of mahogany or some solid piece, not laminated plywood in hind sight. But.

So this Is much more then I thought It would be. The C.T wall is not flush, It bows inward. ? I dont know why but it messed up things a bit. Now I need to shim up the vertical folding hinges some. Uhhhgggggg. Saturday, again. But That will be it for a bit.

Nice job. With the rounded corners you can use the the stick on edge trim. It's just a thin laminate veneer that looks like oak or cherry and you use an warm iron to apply it to the edge of the ply. It comes in rolls 3/4" so you don't need to trim it. Just smooth any edge with fine sandpaper.

I thought I would just not attach the counter to the fold down hinges. Do you foresee any problem with that? It would be possible to bump the table up while getting up after sitting there perhaps spilling something but other than that? This way you could utilize all three positions. Up, down and midway. I did consider Velcro strips on top of the hinge and then on the back of the counter but when up that would look half ass so hmmm. But the counter will always go up.

This C.T has me going some of my dados are too wide and too deep. I may re do that one. Also one of the bracket screws is right where the 2x4s come together so I will have to drill another hole a tad north an inch or so in each bracket. I see a half a day easy. R and D sucks. Sorry

I don't see why that would not work... it just never occured to me. Nice idea!

I can think of some ways to lock down the table top to brackets when laid out flat, but I really cannot see that being a problem as you said. Will only move if you bump it upwards. Give it a field test when we go camping and decide then if you need to do anything else.



I have had a tenant vacate one of my properties so I am stuck this weekend turning it over ... lots of little things to fix in addition to doing some electrical work at the house next door that my daughter and son in law are renovating. Next weekend I hope to have time to prep my CTC for the trip the following week. I want to get that additional solar capacity on board before we go.

Don't beat yourself up too much over it. It's often hard to visualize then plan out things you haven't done before. A lot of the work I've done has been done twice. The first time to learn how to do it, the second time to do it right, or the way I actually wanted it.
I wouldn't be too concerned about securing it in the down position. You could tip a free standing table and you wouldn't secure that. Use it for a while and see if that becomes an issue.

Tommy, Just an idea if you find out later that you want to fasten top down and assuming barrel on slide lock will fit in bracket track: Mount barrel bolt under table top to align with track on bracket and engage it when slid to lock position. Just one of a few possible ways to do it. You could actually drill a hole at the very end of the bracket to match the bolt diameter and etc.. if the track would not work as is. There appears to be enough solid area at the end.

Ok I am done for now BUT the floor and rear ramp are next in line for vinyl plank flooring after my first camping trip. maybe three weeks or so.

There she is.....in all her glory! I will test run and tweak accordingly. Mudstock those t-nuts are going in today. They will be so much better. Beach guy, thank you so much for your instructions. It worked out just fine but was challenging for a noobe.

Happy to have helped. As an aside....you noted your concern about having it down at night and if it would be an obstruction. Cut a smaller piece of ply that just spans the brackets and only as deep as the brackets. You'll have a smaller night stand. Just add a cleat or stop of some kind to prevent the shelf from sliding off the right or left bracket.

Right I see what you say. I may see an easier way by lifting the counter up prior to turning in and pulling the Dometic over a few feet.It provides a very solid surface.

Well the up coming shake down trip will be interesting. I messed with every system in here and god only knows what will pop up.
