Temps finally dropped again so I’ve been testing out the wood stove. Yesterday the temp in the trailer and outside when I started was 32f. I fired it up and in 30 minutes I had a temp
of 60f at the top, 55f at mid level and 45 at the top of the bed.

Keep in mind that the walls are not insulated. And the last 3 feet of the ceiling hasn’t been insulated yet.

When I hit 65 at mid level I dampened down the stove and let it roll for a hour. Stoking the fire ever 30 minutes I was able to maintain that temp. I’m only using 2x2x5 fir.

I’m happy with that. Even if the fire goes out at night it won’t take long to get things heated back up again.

29f today when I fired up the stove. The interior of the trailer was right there too.

Was a warm and cozy 60f in 45 minutes.

Ran the stove for 4 hours ad it was nice!

I’m not a generator person, but I couldn’t pass this deal up. Barely used, and the price couldn’t be beat! So it followed me home. Guess I’ll use it if the solar fails.

A nice little generator to have around as a backup. I am glad I have one. Solar doesn't work at night or in the shade, but my trusty Honda is there to pick up the slack when needed!

Nice find! You can even use that in the winter when you do not want to keep getting up to feed the fire. I bet a little 700W ceramic heater would run all night on a gallon of gas or less and keep it toasty in there.

Yes it will be a good backup to the solar. My only power demand is the led lights and phone chargers.

I also thought about the ceramic heater. Not so much for all night but giving that quick burst of heat when getting up. If it was really cold though it might be nice!

Hey Dirtsailor,
Nice find on the Honda. Those little gennys come in handy more often than you might think, not just for camping. Imagine all the times you could use power tools in remote locations, or just to keep the freezer running during power outages, etc. Very handy items.

Fortunately since moving inland from the coast we don't see power outages too often. Maybe 2-3 times a year and then only for 1-2 hours tops. When I lived at the coast there were several storms that wiped out our power for days, even a week once. Always had the coleman gear ready and plenty of white gas on hand!

Re-installed the metal in the front corners.

Found a stainless tray that allowed me to get the wood stove up off the counter a bit more. Was getting a bit hot feeling on the underside of the wood. So this should help.

Yeah snow all week. We were only supposed to have 7”-10”.. weatherman kind of missed the mark!
