Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Fix

Postby Prem » Thu Dec 24, 2009 11:51 pm

Here's my fix for the issue of possibly being locked in your own trailer. With the handle locked open, it can't happen.

1. Locked closed, but note cut-away rubber handle tip and hole drilled for SS carabeaner

2. Locked open with SS eyebolt and carabeaner

Mario,

Yeah, the galley-in-a-box on the back door of my trailer makes for fast set-up. Takes about one minute to be open and start making coffee.

Love your webpages on the trailer and the costal redwoods! NICE job amigo.

Check these out:

http://users.telenet.be/sequoiadendron/en/california.html#sherman and http://www.nps.gov/archive/seki/bigtrees.htm

My parents used to take me to visitGen. Sherman and Gen. Grant trees starting when I was one year old. We only lived about an hour away. I still go back there every couple of years.

Have you been to Sequoia-Kings Canyon NP yet? (If I remember correctly, you said you had it on your list.) Superb RV camping there in Spring and Fall.

Love your photo of you up against the Del Norte Titan.

Coleman BLACK CAT HEATER (platinum catalyst)

Image

Our cargo comrade Gonefishin was right! These heaters work great and give off no fumes. I put my nose right above the thing turned to high and could smell nothing. It takes up very little space too!...and definitely beats installing a wood stove. Highly recommended.

I got the basic model without the small fan...on sale for $55 ($79.95 retail) at Fred Meyer's right after Xmas.

New exterior vent behind Dutch oven table on trailer door.

Image

I silicone-caulked a scrap of window screen on the back side of the metal and cut a 3" x 3" hole in the door for it.

Yeah, it's one third the width of its interior counterpart, but I can add two more if that isn't enough air. So far it seems to be plenty with the interior vent open half way.

Do you ever get the feeling that we're being spied on here?

... but theres no personality with there generic RV plasticky look ... let them copy away.

The tent idea is unique and well exicuted I thought ...

I beleive the challenge for "us" is to make something unique, with personal character, that a company couldnt afford to take the time to produce or use in quality of materials.

BC,

That "tent on the ramp door" idea started on this forum!

AM RADIO

Postby Prem » Thu Jan 07, 2010 1:08 pm

Look what I found at the swap meet for $10.

Image
When camping deep in the woods, far from civilization, I like to listen to AM radio from far away. This radio really pulls in the stations.

Mine had a broken screen, but worked fine. I sent it back to the company and they installed a new screen for just $25, which included return shipping. (http://www.ccrane.com/radios/am-fm-radios/ccradio-2.aspx)
