Might not be the insulation as much as you need more ventilation. Maybe leave your computer fan/vent on??

Its sort of mine!

Postby Padilen » Sat Oct 15, 2016 7:47 am

Not as cold last night low to mid 40's. No moisture issues.
But I didn't mention this before. I don't have the heat on until I go out. Except yesterday I had left it on low to help remove the moisture. This was reading when I went out.

This was after shower
Image
This morning it was a little warmer but humidity was same as before shower.
70* and 70 humidity.
Now the leak- so I showered no leak. Went to use bathroom later, spotted water on floor. So still investigating! I don't find a leak in water lines, all dry. I wondered last night if the seal for the toilet isn't sealing the shower pan. Allowing shower water under toilet, around toilet/holding tank base mount.
Used my bigger fan to circulate air and dry up under shower pan. I tried using the dehumidify setting on AC. It read 68* when I turned it on. Dropped temp to 64, immediately, I heard compressor shut off. So it was a fan only, not sure if it frosted coils. Turned it off.
Guess I had heat set to high, I was hot all night.

That all looks good. But we gotta find the source of the wetness. If it is under the pan, it could turn ugly on ya. What you see on floor is tip of the iceburg. There could be a pond under there, doing some damage! Remember, a complete jackass once said, "Rust never sleeps". But it is true... So, no more water/showers/etc. till leak is found. That humidity should start dropping PDQ with heat/fan combo, and fresh air flow. The floor will start to delaminate and swell soon if allowed to be wet all the time. Plus, mold/ mildew potential. And when freezing temps come, that ice will blow stuff right up. Its very powerful and destructive. If you can, get under and take a look at that region. Maybe probe the insulation underneath in some places and check for moisture. We might learn something. The dew point for your area should be around 38- 40 deg f., with 75% humidity, that's when condensation will take place. So we gotta get it dried out in there first.
Keep me posted.

If possible, empty holding tank as well. And just put about a quart of RV anti freeze down toilet and a little down shower and sink drain too. Then no more water till it gets dried out in there. The humidity should be lower inside than outside soon. I don't know where in Michigan you are, but take a look at Cadillac. Notice the temp, humidity and dew point. See whats happening there? You don't want that inside your trailer.

Its sort of mine!

Postby Padilen » Sat Oct 15, 2016 12:40 pm

Remember my holding tank is only for the toilet, and is in my CTC's on the floor, not under. But the other night when near freezing temps were forecasted I added anti freeze to it. Sink is not being used. Sink and shower drain onto ground they do not attach to each other either.
It's misting outside, here temp /humidity in CTC, when I came out to play.

Ok, well its not gonna help to introduce fresh air right now as it is saturated right now. That's why it is misting outside. But if you can get temp up to 72 and keep circulating air the humid should come down.
Remember when you said you couldn't sleep, too hot? Not too hot, too wet! Very thick warm air in there, wont allow you to evaporate your body heat. Notice de humidifier came on and dropped temp to 64 bam! then compressor quit. Probably DH control reached its low limit at 64 for dehumidify, but you may be able to get A/C to come on and do the same job.
I'll check back in awhile.

Would it be believable that it's condensation dripping from the bottom of the pan and tank & wall under pan? The other night I thought it was shower drain seal. I added water proof lexan. Tested my repair with cold water. No leak. It didn't leak last night until after my hot shower. Today, I've removed battery to see shower drain. Ran cold water, plugged drain to check shower drain no leak. No water on floor. Then did the same with hot water, no leak but touching pan it felt like condensation wanted to form. Last night I added latex seal around toilet, today I checked bolts. Tight !
I brought a pop out with me. It's all condensation and drips running off my counter.

Padilen, Howdy;

Sounds like your trailer is suffocating. 365/6 days a year I keep 2 of my overhead vents a least cracked
to allow air to flow. Doesn't matter if I have the a/c or the heater operating or not. Air HAS to flow in
order to keep the condensation from forming. Granted I live where Mr. & Mrs. Drought reign supreme,
When it gets chilly (your standard), and the heat needs to come on even the 2 of us (me and Rascal
trusty Border Collie), can generate enough while exhaling to coat the windows with moisture and that's
with an RV furnace that vents to the outside. Yet when the air can flow there is zero condensation build
up.
Awhile back (maybe a month) someone had posted installing their shower on a slightly raised deck with
(it looked like), a pair of 3" round vents so the underside could breath. Perhaps something like that could
help elevate your problem. Things need to breath in order to live ...

Just my take on your situation.

Well that would be best case scenario. We can figure out how to control cond. But,.....I'm not yet convinced. So how does this sound, Get the humidity stabilized. Now that you have a thermometer/Hygrometer on board you can easily monitor conditions inside. If you can control temp somewhat like say 60 or so all the time and you can use smart phone to get current conditions out side you can track for a while. So maybe tomorrow you can do AM, lunchtime and evening temp and humid checks inside and out , write em down. It's important to not change parameters such as temp or adding more water to area via shower or cooking or leaving window open etc. Look for water on floor, it could be a leak from rain etc. If you can get a peek under/around pan and look for wetness occasionally that would help. Process of elimination here. If all is good till you shower, well we know where to start. Michigan is having some weird weather right now, like real high humidity and unusually mild temps. Should be getting real nice in a couple days. We'll get it figured out.
You said you brought a "pop-out" with you, I'm not sure what that is.

Slept out in CTC was 80* and nearly 85 percent humidity. No condensation that I saw. Did not use shower. I'm so congested now
Poured most of night lots of rain, standing water. No leaks.
In Michigan all our weather is weird. It's hardly ever forecasted correctly. Yesterday was suppose to be sunny until late afternoon. Never saw sun and misting most of day.
Pop is soda pop - another weird thing, it's pure Michigan.

Oh..OK I just read that wrong. My wife says that too. We just call all soda Coke. "you want a Coke? What kind?" .. :?

Alright, So why so hot in there? Just trying to dry it out? Don't make yourself sick now, there is going to be some real nice weather coming your way. Tues. and Wed. look good. The humidity there is crazy! Like 90%+
Condensation can be a real problem when the air is that saturated. But so far no puddles, that's good. No leaks from rain, that's good. If all stays dry inside then we'll start looking at the shower. Give it another day before using shower, then use normally and see what happens.
Did you get trailer in the barn?

I don't know why it got so hot. The cold night temps dropped so I turned up setting. I reset it to a "good" setting. Was fine when I was out working in the trailer. Then later it was too warm for me so I turned it down. Was nice when I went to bed. Way to hot when I got up. My heater most have a mind of its own.
I live in trees, we are usually in shade and damp. It takes longer for snow to "stick" but then it stays longer than in open area's. My pole barn is heated and insulate, has insulated garage doors. The doors sweat, I get dripped on when I open them. In the winter you can see the frost & hear the ice cracking when the doors open.
