If the wood is dried properly, it shouldn't warp should it? I thought that happens when it is still wet?

Some still have a certain amount of moisture even if kiln dried. Once its opened up it could twist or cup, in your case it would possibly twist more then cup because of you ripping it with the grain. I've got a few pieces of narrow cuts from the 1x4's I ripped for my cabinet face frames that I'm using for spacers that are twisted/bowed. luckily I can cut them into smaller pieces and still make them work. Sealing the cut edge may prevent this.

Thanks for the information. . Sealing the cut edge would make sense then if the moisture is going to exit the cut and shrink faster than the remainder. That makes sense and goes with earlier comments by Spotman regarding the spray paint.

Thanks all

I have some old paint... I will do that. ..

flboy, Howdy;

Figure that "Kiln dried lumber is at or near 10% moisture. You live in an almost under water state as it is
with the humidity in Fl. I would give all 4 sides a light coat.
Here where I live the normal "average" humidity is <10%. So, it would be fine for me to not paint ... unless
I were going to visit someplace with humidity.
You'd love to see our heat indices. Where yours would indicate a higher temp. then actual. Ours shows a
lower temp. then actual. It's a "dry" heat ... same for the cold ...

Thanks Hank. Yes, the humidity here is killer this time of year. It is just steamy outside and ypu get no cooling by sweating like you do out west or in dryer climates. The shade doesn't even help sometimes. 3 bad months a year and the rest is good.

AC is life support equipment in Florida according to my wife . :-)

Is there a reason you don't want to just buy 2X2's? I feel your pain, I lived in florida for two years without AC :(

I would just buy them if I could find 2x2's that are not pressure treated. My local Home Depot and Lowe's only seem to carry 2×2's that are pressure treated. It is super easy to rip a 2x4... just have the warping concern.

I think the 2x2's are commonly used as furring strips in concrete block construction and they are PT because the are on nailed directory into the blocks.

I took most of the stuff for the build out of my storage shed this evening and put it in the back of the trailer and organized my tools. I needed the AC and Fridge in there as I start to frame on the side and work my way around the front. The back part of the trailer won't see any action until I start paneling and building the loft bed... so it is a good place for it right now where I can access things and measure as I build.

The Fridge and AC.

All the fun stuff to install.

The Stove/Oven and hood setting up front out of the way. The stove/oven will be built into the counter right over the water heater and share a common wall with the shower.

flboy, Howdy;

Coin mat looks good! Really, an oven??? Must eat a lot of pizza when you're camping ...
A lot of the RVers that I know use a 9" X 9" X 3/8" stone (HD or Lowes), to even out
the heating.
Well, you are proving the old adage, that things are easier the second time 'round.
You've definitely got some organization going on there.

Thanks Hank. Honestly, if I didn't get the oven for free (donor camper), I probably wouldn't have bought one. Just a stove would be fine for me. There might be occasions to use it if I use the camper as much as I want to (frozen Pizza, etc. ). More than likely it will just be pan storage unless the Mrs. is on board. :thumbsup:

Geez Don,
You are about done now, what are you gonna do with all your spare time? Volunteer at the Home for Battered Fish?
Ok, So I cant see a lot of your images for some reason, but I do see that sexy, sexy floor. I believe it is the same HDX I am installing. Came in the 7' x14' roll? So, did you glue it down like sheet flooring, with a notched trowel and some Pressure Sensitive Adhesive, I'm using Roberts 6280. I am somewhat worried about the buckling as we have some extreme High and Low temp cycles. Sometimes in the same day! But I'll have D-rings, and the mounts for the Pingle removable chock and such bolted thru the flooring so it cant go far, I hope. Any tips on the flooring install? Wisdom? Wild Ass Guesses?
On the framing, I'm using mostly 2x2 some 1x, but mine should be pretty simple. I gotta get rollin on it. I need to have it in some kind of useable shape for the Iron Horse Rally in about 3 weeks! I think I have most everything, but I'm sure I've missed a few things. Came home to a little issue this weekend. A shelf that I put up 20 yrs ago in the shop over the spot where the '57 is parked collapsed! This thing is like 4' deep and 12' long and about 10' up, and there was all kind of stuff up there. Don't see any damage, but a huge mess. So I'm dealing with that. But the plan for the near future is to focus on the trailer. I'm doing the early AM and evening/night shifts to avoid the heat of the day. I'm more productive then anyway.
I'll check back later to see if I can get those images.
Onward Brother!

You should probably let her ride in the truck with you. I've found they are a lot nicer to deal with that way. Just sayin'

McDave, I'll confirm the glue I used and trowel depth as well. I don't recall exactly the numbers, but I bought one of the two adhesives recommended on the Home Depot website because that is what they had in stock at my local. Also used the recommended trowel depth. In any case, make sure you have good adhesive coverage but do not over apply. Too much adhesive is not good and makes it harder to smooth down. I also let the flooring warm up in the sun some. It made it much more pliable and easy to work with. I like the way it turned out. It is the 14*7 ft roll from HD. Best of luck putting it down. It is not that hard except I am messy with adhesive. Keep some mineral spirits and rags handy for cleanup. :-)
