flboy, Howdy;

Don, what ya have looks good. If I were doing this for my truck (8' bed with 2'+ gap tailgate,
I would, like you, go for 2 panels of ply 1 for top and 1 for bottom. For the track I'd prefer to
use some 'U" channel for the rollers (counter-sunk fasteners), so the wheels won't groove the
wood over time and usage. Spacing of the wheels is a personal thing. Me ... I'd go for every
12" and see how that works. Ya ain't haulin' an elephant back there are ya??? That 'L' stuff has
more backbone then most folks give it credit for.
Those are my thoughts and you're free to bend, twist or throw'em out if ya want.
Good luck with the project. Keep us oooo'in and ahhhh'in.

My quick and dirty method is to carry a wooden broom handle with a hook attached to the end of the handle that enables me to reach into the bed and drag things back to me. I like your idea better.[/quote]

I put a piece of cardboard in the bed and drag the cardboard out lol. If it gets wet I throw it out. Recycling I call it

Thanks for the tips Hank. I ordered the stock. It will arrive in a week or so. I did not get it at Home Depot this weekend as I planned. I found better stuff (thicker) online for half the price and cut to the exact length I need. I hear you on the rollers wearing a groove. I will watch that and if it starts to occur, they sell the aluminum in a flat piece and I will lay one in each track.

I got the slider built. I am waiting on BuyMetal.com to deliver the remaining aluminum stock, then I'll fab the roller rails and install the base and guides. Not sure I'll have it done for my trip to Daytona for Bike Week next weekend, but sometime soon I hope.

I am still thinking about what I will use for the storage bins for various things. I probably will build some drawers I can access from the sides for some smaller tools and items when I pull it out and then have some taller stackable bins down the middle. Still brainstorming that. I want to take advantage of the full height underneath the Extang Hard Tonneau cover (19.5 inches I think ----~22 inches minus the height of the slider system which will be about 2.5 inches when finished).

I found a good use for two of foam mats I had bought for tile runners when my old dog couldn't walk on the tile floors any longer. I bought a half dozen or so of the mats to go between a few places in the house so he could get around some during his last few months. He was not strong enough and his feet would go out from underneath him on the tile which was slippery for his paws. He kept chewing off the special booties we bought him.

My first thought is use a false floor in the larger drawers and put some shorter two inch drawers from the sides, when we do office work that hidden drawer in/above the large file drawer is super popular. You could use a shorter lighter material and some regular drawer slides and keep hand tools separate, or smaller items in many drawers

Six foot long drawer,

72 inches - 3/4 back of box, -3/4 for the space between your drawer and back-3/4 for actual back of box- 3/4 front face = 69 inches. You could do at least 50 inches of side pull out drawers at ten inches a box and still keep enough of the drawer in the box with out it all fuming at your toes?

That’s a fair amount of storage. And or do two long pull out drawers stacked plus your hidden drawers. For almost 15 drawers pending on spacing

Pick up some 1/4 inch material and us it for dividers, even less weight if you picked up peg board stuff.

Hum now I want to build on lol

Thanks for the ideas BigDave. I picked up a few small totes that will stack and have a 1/2 inch to spare under the hard tonneau cover. I like to keep camping gear in totes so I can unload and load into shed and not have to think about what I am packing. It is all in the totes.

Was using the slider as a work surface some today. Building a shelf for the CTC bathroom.

I need to clean up the garage and put it away until the aluminum stock comes.

Never done with a build! I finally built the shelf I have been wanting in the bathroom. It really lacked any place to set clothes or etc. when getting a shower. Use to set the stuff on the toilet, but this will be much better.. and really unused space.

I still have to put the aluminum trim piece on front to clean up the plywood seam. I used that on the cabinets and it really make it look better.

It's hard to believe one of the kids hasn't tried to move back home and into that trailer. You must have raised 'em right. ;)
Anyway, it looks great in there. Amazing job you have done there, always impressed.

Thanks guys. Appreciate that.

Last trip my wife mentioned that if she sits at the dinette for any length of time the back of her legs get sore because she cannot keep her feet flat on the floor. I built this CTC around my frame and did not think of those little things although I tried to make the booth a standard height.

In any case, we will see if she notices this weekend at Bike Week. Who says I don't listen. ;-)

Hauling to Daytona for 4 days and camping at the Raceway next weekend. I want the bride to be comfortable. She actually went boondocking a few weeks ago with me and says she really enjoyed it. Almost have her talked into a backpacking trip overnight. I was suprised, but I will take it. :-)

Nice video. The only time we have camped in Ocala is when we were section hiking the Florida Trail. Now a long hike for us is 4 miles. :D Maybe next year we can meet up with you folks on one of your trips. Loved the place you were camping it looked really nice.
