Test fit for the legs before I do the one for the wide body in the back.

Image

I have to make some feet up or rubber covers so it doesn't punch a hole in the floor.

Image

I made the legs come out over center so they stay out,

Image

Even test fit the mattress (SMM has been dogging it and still has not covered it...something about going to work? she's killing me..)

I picked up some rubber protectors on Amazon for a couple of bucks. Work great.
Dadgum it! I cut that board 5 times and it's still too short!

Do you have an estimate on your total weight and tongue weight yet? You probably only had about 1700 pounds of payload capacity to begin with and you might be surprised at how quickly that can get used up during the build.

I ended up welding some flat stock on the bottom to give them a bigger "footprint", might put some sticky rubber on the bottom too, but Thanks!

Weight has been a concern of mine since the start, I will probably weight it at some point but what I figure(guess) is, the trailer unladen is 1200lbs (I have to check that) and I put 500 lbs in it (guess) so 1700 lbs. 4 bikes at 200 each and another 200 lbs of gear which is 2700 lbs and the trailer is rated for 3000 lbs so pretty close. I do intend to put new "real" radial trailer tires on it.

SMM is stepping it up! double layer of batting on the cushion for a luxurious feel.

and the big boy bed is ready for use!

I took them off to put a coat of paint on but am happy with the way it came out.

Last real fabrication needed is the propane tank mount, I tried to buy one but really didn't see anything available so build I did.

I have to get longer bolts and paint it but it works well.

Here is a picture of my old 6x10 (I'm just starting over with a 7x16). It only weighed 1080 empty. They way you see it here plus 1 RMZ-450 (about 250 lbs) and an EU2000 generator it weighed in at 2360

I knew it would add up so I used the bins instead of cabinetry to try and save weight. The bins are full of riding gear, sleeping gear, towels and other light stuff. The cabinet had my electric pressure washer, some chemicals and few small misc things. Also worth noting, there was a 100 lb battery on the tongue and some small WD hitch brackets. It's scary how fast it adds up. Even in this small trailer, i still probably used 25 pounds worth of primer and paint. On any given race weekend I would be bringing along an extra couple hundred pounds of stuff easily. Things like a cooler full of ice, a grill, food and stuff like that. The other thing to consider is that with SA trailers, it's tough to keep the tongue weight in proportion because the axle is so far back.

The problem you have is that RMZ weighs like 400 lbs.... My YZ 125 only weighs 195...

You are absolutely right that the lbs add up quick, I guess I will weigh it at some point but think I am ok. I also can put the mini's in the back of the truck and only 3 bikes in the trailer on race weekends and my day trips are usually with 1 or 2 bikes.

No joke.

Anyway, your build is top notch and you've given me some great ideas so forgive me in advance for stealing a few. I race in New England as well so if see your trailer around I'll make sure to stop by and say hello. This year I plan on racing the Maine MX series as well as some Winchester Speed park, NEMX and NESC. Good luck this season, stay safe and have fun.

I will be at Winchester a few times this year as they are having a 3 race vintage/vet series. I also am at Southwick a couple of times a year, hope to see you at the races and please feel free to steal ideas!

Propane tank mount all painted and ready to mount,

Image

Looks good, but it sucked...poor engineering on my part.

Image

It shook more than SMM at a Englebert Humperdink concert...not good. so I found this in the drawers (not SMMs)

Image

So now I had a 3 point connection, much better. No more shake.

Image

So I hooked up the gas and installed a nice rubber bushing where the gas line passes through the cabinet.

Sister Mary Margaret hitting it out of the park on the mattress covers! The light denim blue piping matches my eyes and pulls the whole build together!

Image

So whats worse than a bed without a headboard ( no piano bar at the hotel bar but that's another story).

Image

The pillow will fall of the end of the bed and a bad night of sleep will be had, but I had an idea....details to follow.
