I had another older springer when I got ELI.
Murphy he was my curly boy. The once in a life time dog. I miss him, the most & still. I lost him to a bacteria infection. Almost lost ELI and my cat too. It was the second time it hit. A year earlier l lost my Ginger, but Murphy recovered.
I chose ELI with more black to be similar to Ginger's (red) coat.
Ginger an Australian Shepard /Springer mix.

Thank you
Ginger was the start of the worst years I've had. The next year was the bottom, To be told I had cancer and losing another dog the best dog I've had as an adult. But then ELI and the cat recovered. I had surgery, did not have cancer. I did/do have health issues. ELI is stepping up, he will never replace Murphy, and that's ok. I had my heart mass removed in Jan of 16. Feeling well enough to work some. Arthritis and nerve pain is now my limiter. Not my heart try to beat it's way out of my chest. I'm sitting here on my cell phone with ELI , waiting for my boss to text. I need labels printed so I can label the syrup we bottled yesterday.

Glad to hear things are on the upswing... Amazing what a companion can do for the soul. I deal with kids (grades 3-5) all day, somedays not the best mood when getting home but a precise aimed paw to the groin and a lick on forehead when i walk in the door can erase just about anything.

What kinda of syrup?

Absolutely !
My first springer I got from my Uncle and his family. She was about 1 year old.
I worked maintenance and would come in my door and start removing my dirty clothes. She'd be excited to see me after a long day, grab my pants at the crotch. Didn't matter to me a female, and pants were coming off. (For a shower and clean clothes) But my Uncle would come over, she'd be happy to see him and grab him by the crotch of his pants- very different results. Hilarious for me. And you'd have to let her do it or she's continue trying until she did get ahold on your pants.

We are still bottling maple syrup.
Awesome Woods maple syrup.

Padilen, Howdy;

Helped my G'Grandpa in Maine do his syrup. Long short sided pan maybe 10 or 12 feet long,
maybe 5 or 7 feet wide (this was in the 50's please excuse inaccurate measurements), long
'T' shaped pole to work back-n-forth the length of the pan so nothing would settle and burn.
good warm fire the length of the pan kept me warm while the smell of Maple suryple clogged
my sense of smell. When ya do that for a few months ya either love your syrup or can't stand it...
I'm the latter, GGPa was the former. Always believed that Grade B was the best of all the different
grades. Nice umber hue ... can't speak for the taste ,sorry.

hank

Below is a picture taken of my companion Rascal the brownish smudge below his ear is Cow poo.
The Pink "Bat Man symbol on his nose has mostly disappeared in the 9 years since this was taken.
He was almost 1 then. The eyes are still the same. Oh, he earned the name Rascal ..... and he's
a Border Collie

Its sort of mine!

Postby Padilen » Thu Oct 27, 2016 5:06 pm

Nice, never had a blue eyed dog. I thought my cats would have stayed green but they didn't. I'd recognize cow poop as my bosses dog is in it all the time.
The sap is boiled in an evaporator into syrup. Then the syrup is all barreled at a certain density or specific gravity. Then we take the barrels and use a finish pan. Boiling it to the bottling specific gravity and run it through a filter press. And in to a bottling tank. Keeping the temps over 180. And bottle.
Got a pic of Liza.

Ya ever notice how some animals don't like having their picture took? I think Liza may be one of those...just sayin'...
But hey, ol' Hank's partner Rascal is a good lookin' cow dog. Doesn't look like he's missed any meals either. Dogs do love doo...

She may not. But her issue yesterday was ELI. He was in her truck. Her daddy wasn't in the truck. And she wanted to get closer to me but knew ELI wouldn't allow it. And it was after all our dinner times.
I had rode over to the other shop
http://www.highlandcompany.com/
to use the indoor plumbing while my pallet of syrup was unloaded. Then we were going back to farm to move the mixing tank. But my boss was needed at print machine so I sat in the truck. Just like I sat all morning waiting for labels, not knowing farm had no power. I could have been cleaned the shop ! Now I have to clean it today.

I have to clean TAZ, ELI snuck his ball in, the pole barn. Wet muddy outside, wet inside washing a car. I heard him in the trailer, went and found-He was on the dinette/couch bed, dropping his ball. Then burying it under the blanket now on the floor.

Indian summer?

Yes unseasonably warm. But I'm having issues so it probably won't happen. I could have gone this weekend to a kayak meet up on the Au sable. But I'd not been able to paddle

Sorry to hear that. :( Hope you feel better soon. Tommy B and I are going dirt bike riding this morning nearby. Weather is good.. not hot, but not cold. I have a feeling I'll be popping a few Ibuprofin tonight. The old knee joints aren't what they use to be. Been too hard on them over the years.

I take the max of naproxen daily.
I'm going to ride my TW regardless. My PT got me doing a lot better. More range of motion, less nerve pain, and numbness. But that came with more shoulder pain. I got X-rays and they were normal. Then I was called and told to see a specialist. So I'm confused about that.
Okay it's pitch black out what's the idiot shooting at in a no hunting POA?
Sorry just blows my mind all these idiots that think a sub is the wilderness and kill kill kill.
