We Took The First Step Today

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Thanks MtnDon

I know you have an open mind, I did check and we had 78% humidity - not sure if that plays a factor in the freezing & almost zero wind ?
I'm Working on getting the trailer ceiling finished to keep future built up of moisture down.....
On the old steel trailer the water was just dripping from the ceiling like Niagara falls with the foam boards
this version has 95% - 98% less then the metal version did - so I'm pretty happy.

After I test this for a year or two - if I can get back into skinner shape might build Version 3.0

Hope your trailer arrives soon ?
Are you going to Quartside RV show Jan 14 - 27th this year ? or is that too far away.

By mid January

Too far for a quick trip

From what I understand on the icing the weather conditions have to be just right. Don't recall how the humidity can affect things? Have to read up or have you tell me

I can hardly wait till your lark arrives, seams like a long time till mid Jan
But I guess they are busy at the factory.
Are you planing any winter camping @. -40 like those other guys ??
Was hoping you could do Quartside & give me some more ideas ......
If not one day I'll have drag OTTCT up the mountain to see Muhammid , get the play on words ?

It's been raining :icedtea: :icedtea: for me this week :D :D so I can get some more goodies for OTTCT 2.0
Was thinking Honda 3000 with electric start , as I'm getting old & life is too short to pull cords.
I can always transfer all that stuff to new trailer in Shalla ( means if god is willing ).

PS I'm sorta surprised they have a local LARK Dealer.

Jerry, according to our sales guy, George Jr the factory closes for a while, C-mas to New Years, so delivery could stretch out to mid January. And if he has read the same customer relations script that I have, "set the expectation, then beat it", or words to that effect, it may come earlier. :D

Camping at any minus temperature would have to be by accident, not intent. ;)

Even though the Quartzite RV show does occur during the only sensible time to be in that part of AZ, No, the thought of going there has no appeal to me. The thought of all those thousands upon thousands of people have me making tracks someplace else.

Honda 3000 is a wonderful generator. The electric start alone makes the size and weight almost not matter.

JandB Trailers in Albuquerque. Independent dealer. They are dealer representatives for several different brands of cargo trailers but seem to mainly deal with Lark and Cargo Mate. Lark was the only one that would build a narrow axle, inside wheels, 6 foot wide CT. FWIW, JandB is about the only dealer I have ever seen list the prices of the in stock trailers on their own website.

I could not miss the mountain reference. We are looking forward to a trip up there between C-mas and New Years. Probably a snow shoe in trip. Stay 5 days or so then come back home. We have many piles of thinned trees, slash and dead fall trash to burn. Winter is a good time to burn.

I got my hydrogen factory on full power production today .....
Equalizing my 400 amp hour battery, without the temp probe I was getting 15.3 volts & with probe 15.7 volts
Max production of gas might be 1/2 cu ft a minute
It's only putting out 20 amps about ..... Max charge rate
This is my first time as the readings are getting lower in the mornings so after a year I better get around to it.

I was thinking about your mattress , mine sits at 34" high, hard to climb into bed, but lower then it's
Hard to climb under mattress into storage area - mine is sideways across trailer.
Also at about 6" thick it has little head room

Now I was thinking for you guys who live at -20 deg , that when it hits 32 you would be out nude sunbathing
To catch some warm rays ...... So camping down to 10 at light is like 50 F to us Cali boys 8) 8)
The old saying was it never rains in southern calif , but now the new saying is :
It never rains in northern California either

We sure got some nice duplexes 1969 run down , 3 bedroom, 2 baths, 1 car garage , 950 sq ft each side ONLY $$630,000
Rent is $2,300 each side - you want I put your name on the LONG waiting list ?
So you could get one by 2020 hopefully
It's all cash buyers - first in the line.

MtnDon, Howdy;

Followed you link to the trailer dealer. Was surprised to see they are
an Interstate dealer as well. Surprised actually, as they don't show-up on the map
that shows all the trailersplus dealers and trying to find them through the Interstate
corporate site they don't show-up either????
Interstate is the one for me and am picking mine up in June at the Murry, Ut. dealer.
I'll be headed to West Yellowstone for some fishin' and meeting some friends from
another forum then cleaning out a storage unit on the way back here to SW, N.M.

Jerry, I am not sure what height our bed will end up as. The one at home is 27", the one I made for the cabin is about 29" 29 is okay, but I may want a little more depending on the vertical space underneath. It'll be a balancing act between desired free space under the bed framing, what I use to frame the bed platform and a comfortable height for getting onto or into bed. Toss into that the puzzle of what materials to use for the bed platform and the sizes thereof coupled to the desires of keeping the weight as low as possible. I'm running some mild steel numbers tonight to see what some of the options are with a mind to keeping the deflection down to where it will not be noticeable if someone rolls over or gets in or out. :?

Hank, The dealership trail can be murky at times it seems. I made inquiries through the websites of several manufacturers. J&B came back for 2 of them in email responses as the local dealer, but J&B didn't actively promote them. Can't recall the brands but Interstate might have been one.

So is the trip to Murray thru St.George? Nice country there, though my favorite UT areas are in the SE corner of the state. Have a good trip.

My concept for bed height is a low as it can be and still be able to slide one 14" high kayak under it for transporting. I am pretty sure I am going to get a 6 x 12 with almost 3 feet in a V Nose. I want the main bed height low because I want to build one bunk bed over it going forth and aft, so I need the room from the lower one to the upper one to be reasonable as well as the height for the upper bunk to the ceiling (6 foot high). Under the lower bunk I will make stationary storage bins for things like camp shovels, extension cords, ropes, clothing etc. I will access them by having the bunk itself on hinges and will swing it up when I need to get in to it. Obviously items of low frequency use will go there.

I am going to try and sketch a 3-D drawing of what I am talking about.

MtnDon, Howdy;

Not headed to St. George, counter-intuitive. To get the trailer it's pretty much a
speed run to Murray. Up I-25 to Sr 6w at Los Lunas and pick-up I-40W then North on
US 491 (the old 666), until I hit Monticello, Ut. North on US 191 until I hit I-70, East
till I can jump onto US 6N to Helper, then on to I-15 at Spanish Fork, North to Murray.
Only about 850 +or- a few miles. Figure I'll take a nap where I-70 meets US 191.

So you're not an Interstate only driver. ;) Turn left at Monticello , then right on 95 after Blanding and you're heading for some of my favorite UT places. In fact I was thinking last night that if I get things together once our trailer arrives that would make a good shake down trip for us in May. :D

My money says you are gonna have this thing ready in under 30 days, once you get your hands on it.

Not when I can save about 200 to 300 miles of travel. A year and a half ago I went back to Mt. Pleasant, Ut. for the Summer. Went 187 to Hatch then 26 to Deming,
I-10 to Phoenix, I-17 to Flagstaff jog right on I-40 to US 89 ... followed that the rest of the way to Mt. P. Close to 1,100 miles..... Spent the first night North of
Phoenix the next night in Mount Pleasant. That was pulling my 30' Cougar 5th wheel. :) . Reason ... smaller hills, ... I thought
