Hiflyer

I got my ARB from Sierra & the only 2 reviews are mine - check the name on reviews.
As I was their first customer they in the dark about the product back then - but got me to the factory rep.
After I got mine they jacked up the price.

ARB website does not describe compressors ?
Il keep checking - not saying ur right or wrong
I can tell you & bet shirt off my back at 90 deg F -
Unit will not cool to ZERO F- you might get to 20 F deg if lucky ?
And compressor will run 80% or more
.87 amp per hour is a joke - at 90 F I use about 500- 600 watts In 24 hours
they come up with the .87 AH based on unit being set to 45 F cooling in 75 or 80 F

http://store.arbusa.com/Fridges-C11.aspx

ARB Manuel does not talk about compressor size :x :x

http://store.arbusa.com/Assets/file/ARB_Fridge_Freezer_MAN_EN.pdf

Finally here I found it - compressor size now :x :x :x
I was sure the 63q had the 50 compressor 2-3 years ago

All good, not stirring :)

50°F (highest) to 0°F (lowest) at ambient temperatures of 90° or below
For temperatures over 90° the temperature reduction will be 50°
below ambient

That's max tho so keeping it almost freezing at 90-100 inside is pretty intense when you think about it!

I measured mine (I run a rigrunner 5 channel) and mine peaks at ~4.8 amps

I've also run it thru a doc wattson for a trip or two but can't remember where I out the data

Suffice to say it doesn't take a lot :)

Nice to see someone else who is as OCD as I am ;)

50 degrees below 100 deg ambient isn't food safe. Don't eat mayonnaise stored at that temp!

Maybe Ur reading the info WRONG !!
The specs - say the fridge temp can be set "programed" from ZERO to 50 deg F

Makes sense tho:

50°F (highest) to 0°F (lowest) at ambient temperatures of 90° or below
For temperatures over 90° the temperature reduction will be 50°

That's from their manual

That still says that if ambient is 100F, then fridge temp will be 100-50 or 50F, Not food safe!

I still have NO CLUE - about your point ?

What does the ambient room temp have to do with what the owner of the fridge decides to set the temp at ??

My Fridge has been over 90 F ambient many times and the interior temp was at 32 deg F

OK Hiflyer .... MADE THIS COMMENT - into my tread !!!
PLEASE don't attach it to my name ........
I have no clue where or how Hiflyer came to this conclusion ??

AGAIN I sad my cooler would go down to 20 deg F maybe when its 100F
but it does not reach the factory claim of being able to get to ZERO F , at that setting the cooler would run pretty much non stop

I'm sure that's from their manual, however, it doesn't make sense that at 89F ambient, it will maintain 0F, then at 91F it will be 41F.

I found this link that did an ice chest shoot out. This was done at 75F, Air temps in the middle of the cooler were in the low mid-40s for the better ones.

Ok - here is the FINAL WORD on ARB coolers & compressor

The Danfoss DB35/50 runs up to an Amient temp of 55C or 131F
your not gonna get that with your typical shitty RV fridge & let not even throw in 30 deg tilt angle.

not looking to mix things up at all...

there does come a temperature when the compressor simply cannot keep up

like what was mentioned above - 80% duty cycle at 90 degrees. that's getting close :)

That is all - they are an amazing piece of kit and I still couldn't be happier :)

And I'm just bringing up the high-ambient thing because year before last while traveling through central and eastern Oregon and across Nevada, ambient temps during the day were well in excess of 110F for 4 straight days. The remote reading thermometer in my galley showed 140F + (my TD is brown aluminum). You just need to know when your cooler/fridge/icebox isn't going to keep your food safe.

Or when to invest in an air conditioner man!

That's pretty hot - had 110-115 a couple years ago in Kelowna BC

You would hit pockets of ain't that were like a blast furnace. Same in the lake. All of a sudden it'd be 15-20 degrees warmer.

Got down to ~75 at night. Definitely was sweltering

But that was before the new beast.

Thought about putting on a water drip system to cool down your trailer skin?

Pretty tough to drip water on the trailer while towing it :) And pretty hard to A/C the open galley :)

The skin of my brown aluminum teardrop routinely reaches 120-130F on a sunny day, but cools quickly when it's in the shade.

I think the comment above is the closest you will get. Of course, the available air flow over the cooling coils will impact the effeciency of the thing. I've seen on other forums where folks have modded their systems to add a fan shroud to better direct the air over the condensor coils, and others have added larger computer fans to improve the cooling. Of course sticking it in the corner of your rig with no air circulation won't help anything.
