Thanks Cindy. I hope to have a little more done by the end of this weekend so that I can start putting the finishing touches on some areas.

PS. I have built doors by just cutting a piece of plywood (3/8?) to the final size needed, then just apply trim or moulding to outside face to look like rails and styles. I like to make my own trim from 1" x ? and running the 8' length thru the router table with an "Ogee edge bit". You can do 1 edge or both and obtain different styles just by changing the depth of the bit. You can mass produce it and stain or paint it in 8' lengths and then just cut and miter as required. Baseboards, chair rails, crown, door frame trim etc. You really don't need "clear" or "select" lumber but dried would be best so it doesn't warp or twist.

There you go! Thanks McDave. I have seen the plastic chrome before. This would work great for the cabinet door inlays.

I don't have any nice woodworking tools or a shop really. I'll have to buy the trim and use a hand router where needed.

Had a chance to get the upper cabinets just about finished. I still need to work on the back-splash and I have to mount the speakers and install the "shelf" in the large upper section. That's all minor stuff. I'm just glad that the cabinets are up. Now a lot of things I've had to put off can get done. Here's a picture to show you what they look like.

Those are nice, real nice. You weren't kidding about having cabinet making skills. That is a time consuming project, but I'd have to say it was worth it. Well done. Take the rest of the day off.

Thanks Don & McDave for the kind words. McDave your right, it is a time consuming job, I'm just glad the financial part makes it worthwhile. Didn't have much choice either as it's next to impossible to find commercial made cabinets that would fit the space. I'm glad that part is over, now I can move on to other things. Now its time to finish a list of little things, then tackle my limited plumbing.

Thanks Hank,
The cabinets will give us some storage space and hide some of the less attractive parts of a trailer and make it accessible all at the same time. Alot of our stuff will still be kept in rubbermaid type totes like it is now but my plans are once the CTC is done is to leave all the camping gear in the trailer. Add a little food, 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler, canoe or kayak, fishing gear, hook it up and go.

Had the chance between rain showers to get a little bit more finished up in the cabinet/v-nose area. The radio and speakers are installed and operational, the PD4045 is done except for things I haven't added yet, mainly a couple of 2.1A USB plugs/sockets and a battery monitor. I went ahead and painted the back wall and underneath the upper cabinets. The back wall paint is temporary for now, we plan to use those 10x10 faux ceramic tiles pieces as a back splash.

The counter top and sink install are next along with adding a piece of trim to hide the wiring in the v-nose at the ceiling level. I hope to have this area DONE before the weekend gets here so that I can run my plumbing for the water tank and bar sink. Lots of trim work after that, then comes the AC/Fridge cabinet.

Nice looking cabinets and etc.! You have made a lot of progress.

Have you decided on a counter top yet? What do you plan to use? I am thinking about using 3/4" plywood and gluing on the Formica... That would be another first for me... so I am not sure how that will turn out.

Gluing Formica down is a piece of cake. Just follow all the standard guidelines. And a nice routed edge works great also.
I used a strip of oak around the plywood and that was my exposed wood surface which when stained, looked great.

For my current CT, I cut up sections of our Formica kitchen counters when we replaced them with granite. They look great, but unfortanutely are quite heavy and I probably will replace them later. Instead of Oak on these, the cabinet maker used Corian.

Edit: Also in the interest of saving more weight, I think I will consider making a foam filled luan covered base instead of 3/4 in plywood.

Yes coincidentally I just finished it, or at least version 1.0. Originally the wife wanted to do a broken tile counter top. My plan was to use a doubled up piece of 1/2 BC grade plywood as my base and then install the broken tile and grout it. After playing around with a couple of ideas we took the least expensive route with the knowledge we can always change it later on if we want to. I still used the double layer of BC grade plywood and stained it, then put 3 coats of a satin polyurethane on top of that. I trimmed the front edge out with a piece of ripped down 1x pine and stained and poly'd it to match. Here's a pic of the finished product.

The sink is partially installed ( I cut the hole prior to staining the top ). I'm waiting on my faucet to get here. Once it gets here I'll finish the plumbing side of things. Here's another shot of the counter area.

And here's a shot of the almost finished front

I've got a little bit of trim work to do to hide the gaps between the plywood joints where the side walls meet the V-nose, install my hinged screw caps to hide the screw heads until we do the faux tile backsplash and do some touch up painting. The the front will be done.
