Yes, the Carefrees only have the top arm rail brackets. Less holes to put in CT.

What exactly are Carefrees ?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Carefrees

1. 'careful'
If you are careful, you do something with a lot of attention.

2. 'careless'
If you are careless, you do things badly because you are not giving them enough attention.

3. 'carefree'
Someone who is carefree has no worries and can therefore enjoy life.

So are not all tnttt members carefrees ?

All that's needed is the rail for securing awning to CT.

Before I get corrected, yes the rail has to be screwed in and use sealant.

To bad your not closer. I bought 2 pieces of regular not non drip I didn't use. I was given the drip less top rail that I used.
From your pics the Carefree system is very similar to my awning that's a Dometic.

Spotman

Your most welcome, but I'm still very confused were you saying something good or something bad about Carefrees ? ? Now I'm worried that folks might think I'm a Carefree ?

Im just asking - "So I can give you a proper spam" :-)

Cheers ottct

Darn it, I did not catch that it needed an awning rail. Now I have to order one (Thanks Padilen for the offer) or worse yet, take a trip to Camping World to see if they have one. This will delay my installation this week.

I will probably just screw in place.

I did some quick internet searching tonight and find the shipping cost equal or exceed the parts price. I like Vintage Trailer Supply the best, but they are higher then many other suppliers.

I got the 2 pieces from RV dealer. Ends from awning install's. He charged me new not scrap pricing but no shipping so I was happy. Then the local guy that refurbishes old TT's gave me the non drip 16' length. I was even happier.
How long is your awning- my offer is still open. If the pieces are long enough. I also thing I saw 5' ??? Lengths on Amazon.

Re: Blue Ridge Spirit, Bob and Lynn's 6x14 CT

Postby lrrowe » Mon Oct 03, 2016 11:44 am

I want to go on record to thank Padilen for sending me excess awning rails. I now have three pieces which I am starting to secure to the CT. Since the awning I have secures the inside edge of the fabric. This in essence holds the whole assembly to the trailer. Therefore I want the awning rail to be very secure against the trailer. But the only points that offer this support are the 16" on center vertical rails. This is only about 8 screws over 10'. To me, this is hardly enough holding power.

So I started to use Sikaflex 252 along with the screws. But my Sikaflex appears to too hard and may have reached its expiration date early. I cannot even squeeze it out of the tube. I have posted this issue in another post. Before I go and spent another $16 pn a new tube, only to use less then 5% of it and having the rest of it expire before I can use it on my solar panels, I want to see if there is another solution, such as 3M tape.

Can you cut the tube open and see its its good? It maybe dry or hard just by the tip. Then use a putty knife- messy but no wasting money on another tube or product.
