Some reefers and freezers do have the condenser radiate/transfer its heat out through the outer skin. Double insulation would NOT be a plus in that case. And it looks to be backed up tight to the wall, so probably not in back. Maybe below? Would still need space around it to convect?

This Fridge actually does transfer heat on the exterior surface. I have had it plugged in for a few hours now and is about 15 degrees warmer than the ambient temp based on an IR thermometer. . Also, I cannot see the the condenser coils underneath where they'd normally be. I have seen these small fridges built both ways before. This one is a Magic Chef and it also says it is not built to be used with an inverter.... they must be thinking of a modified sine-wave inverter. It won't be able to tell the difference with a pure sine wave inverter. I guess they need to cover their warranty "bases".

Definitely will not be able to use the insulation. I will still install the DC "computer server fan" on the top vent I will be building into the cabinet. It will draw from the bottom and the fan will pull from the top in any case. The low current fan I am looking at draws about 125CFM. My plan is to install a relay that will switch 12vdc to the fan when the compressor kicks on. I'll tap the compressor relay for the fan control relay.

Convection will do the job. For 1000 btu you will need about 3 in sq discharge on top and about 9 in sq inlet on the bottom. A fan won't hurt but for the sake of simplicity perhaps a line voltage fan in parallel with the compressor?

Thanks for the link. I am going to use the fan. The 115VAC fan is definitely a better idea... very simple to tag onto the compressor power.

Glad to see you back Don, how'd your trip go? Did you get to do any diving?

Been busy here as you've seen working on my CTC. Have you decided on what your going to do about a bed design yet? I know for me and the wife we're gonna start out with just the old air mattress on the floor probably but found a design here on TNTTT that you might like, I'm gonna mock something up in wood first and see how it fits then build something similar. Here's the link in case your interested. viewtopic.php?t=43448 scroll down to his second post and look thru his pictures.

Hi Martin. thanks .I did have a good time. I have some great GoPro videos of my scuba dives. Highlights are a Goliath Grouper which had to be about 350 lbs ( estimate based on size) and a 6ft reef shark that swam right up to check me out. A little adrenaline rush. :)

I have decided on the bed. It is going to be a Queen size loft that will raise to the ceiling in the back on gas struts. The garage area below will also double as the living room when the bikes are rolled out. The main feature is that the bed will be able to be used with the bikes still in. I bought a 7.5' high trailer so I could have the bed lowered 3' from the ceiling and the bikes below when I want to stop for the night somewhere and sleep without unloading. I'll have access to the bed, the dining area and everything up front without unloading.

I like the sound of that bed plan. It would be nice to use the bed without unloading. I am using a conversion van as a tow vehicle so there is always a bed, but the shower/toilet are becoming necessary niceties.
That was a great catch by warnmar10, that could have gotten ugly. Buy that guy a beer.
Glad you had a good time, doin' good stuff for the kids. Nice job. Buy yourself a beer.

I installed the ceiling lights tonight. I wired them to go on/off with a single light switch together. They can also be turned off individually by the switch integrated into the light. They are LED's and seem to do a good job. I'll have more under cabinet lighting and another ceiling light in the bathroom. These will be nice for working in the trailer at night. I bought some plumbing items tonight and plan to start on the plumbing and electrical cabinet this weekend after I finish the framing Saturday.

Looking good there Don. I did something similar, I ran my pair thru a pwm dimmer as well, just in case I wanted to tone them down a tad. I'm off the next few days so I hope to make some good progress on mine.

Thanks. I bought a PWM Dimmer.. I may use it.. not sure... will more likely use on the under cabinet LED's for effect at night. I did some more work tonight. Getting ready to post some pics.

I added some shelves to the Electrical cabinet and mounted up the Breakers, PowerMax Automatic Transfer Switch, 1500W Pure Sine Wave Inverter, 200A Fuse Holder, the PowerMax 55A DC Supply/Charger, DC Fuse Panel and the back end of my UHF/VHF HAM radio. I still need to route and install wires and etc., but this is where things will go. I still have to bring down the wires from the 500W of Solar Panels on the roof and add the three 12VDC Deep Cycle batteries below.. but I'll get there. :-) I am set to make some progress this weekend for sure. I have plumbing items on the way and the door for the bathroom.

What I am really anxious about is all the finish work when I get all the fun stuff done. Also, I will have to go back at some time and paint the inside of this cabinet and put some shelf paper down. Will be harder to move the stuff around, but I need to get a good fit before I close up the sides, trim, and build doors :NC

Looks good there Don, you've got a lot done. To bad I don't live closer, we could help each other knock their work out. I've got four days to work on mine so I hope to get quite a bit done myself.

That would be good... I could use some help on the finish work. That will be the most challenging for me. I am decent at electrical, plumbing, and rough carpentry. I also have some experience cutting holes in the CTC now too. :-)

Best of luck on your 4 days of work and whatever you decide to do about the AC. Your build is really coming together.

Nothing really to show for the wiring I got done tonight... but I started wiring up the electrical panels/circuits. It is nice working inside in the AC.

I did get the accumulator in the mail today. It goes on the output of the pump. It has an air bladder inside @30PSI and will really smooth out the pump and etc.. I also received the accordion door for the bathroom today. I decided to go with that because it will save space and I can leave it open except when in use. That will add more dimension and turnaround space in the entry and aisle. It seems to be a good quality PVC material.

The accumulator... It is about a .7 liter .

Obviously not installed.... but just a pic to get an idea of what it will look like.
