Hi. Good to hear from you. Air Conditioning is not an option at my house. My wife calls it a "life support system". It will be a game changer in terms of comfort as you well know. Take care.

When you attached the drain hose to the a/c, did you drill a hole for it? My ac looks very similar and has a drain at the back of the unit that they don’t recommend removing because some water is good for the condenser. I thought about plumbing a drain to the plug and putting a petcock on it to control just how open it is. Then I was going to run it straight out like you did.

Thanks

My window shaker didn’t come with a drain, it was a splasher type system so i inserted a length of aquarium tube into the pan so i can use a large syringe to drain the pan before i move the trailer.

Mine did have a rubber insert. They are designed to sling cool condense water back on hot condenser coils to aid in heat transfer and efficiency, however, in high humidity environments like Florida, there is much more condense water and less evaporation going on, so they tend to overflow. For me, in Florida, I need to drain to not overflow since the unit is not hanging outside and would result in water inside.

Okay, thanks. NV is the Driest state in the nation. I’ll gamble on that and re-design if next monsoon proves me wrong.

Again, thanks for the help with this. If I never see foil tape again it will be too soon. Off to mount the unit in place.

Very good! Yes, can always add a drain hose if needed. Just keep an eye on it.. don't want to be getting the shelf and etc.. wet.

flboy, Howdy;

Ran across this in my Sat. edition of my RV newsletter. Pertains to tires as we were
discussing them awhile ago and thought you might find interest in the read.

The article Hank posted says:

" ... on the topic of Speed Rating, people need to understand that the test is designed for Passenger car tires and only requires a new tire be capable of running up to the stated speed for 10 minutes while running a reduced load of 88% of the tire’s stated max."

Yikes! I need to slow down!

Howdy All;

Ok, but, for the 'Rest of the story' the following paragraph reads in full;
" You should be aware that in 2002, both P- and LT-type tires had the DOT test and durability requirements significantly updated
and improved by requiring more durability for those tires. But ST tires only need pass the same tests as in 1970. Many consider this
increase in performance and durability desirable as it can be considered a measure of “quality.”

Good information should read the entire article as it covers LT (Light Truck), P (Passenger), and ST (Special Trailer) types of tires
main focus is on LT & ST types.

When pulling my trailer, I tend to run between 65 and 67mph in the slow lane. It seems to be just about where most truckers are running, so I don't have to overtake slow vehicles much and it is not obnoxiously slow for people behind me. Seems to be a good speed. Never had any issues related to speed with my tires.

The article was informative. Thanks Hank.

flboy, Howdy;

I'd thought I'd posted this to your 'new' trailer thread, my bad.
I was hoping you'd notice that the ST tires haven't had their "Standards"
up graded since the 70's as you are planning to run something more for
off-road. More then a few folks refer to the ST tires as "China B0mbs" as
most are made in China and tend to come-apart when least expected
or wanted. Now with a 2 axil trailer I recommend them as the sidewalls
are stiffer to withstand the torqueing of a tight turns twisting BUUUT,
on a single axil you don't get the torqueing so you could use the tires
that suit your needs for OffRoading with your 6X12.
As always, Your trailer ... your choice. chuckle.

Breaking out the 7x18 for a trip to SC and GA for a few days with the Mrs.. It has been sitting all summer while I was away with the 6x12 so I have a few things to do before I leave ( It needs a little love). Main things needing done are to clean the awning and to wash down the roof and solar panels. While I am at it, I will replace the under awning LED strip (it was getting flakey last time we used it) and inspect the roof seals well.

I have never had this trailer weighed on official CAT scales, so I think I will do that also on the way out as well. If I sell this thing, I am sure potential buyers would want to know details.

Looking good.
Curious about those air tabs. Any noticeable difference with those ?

Not noticeable for gas mileage, but noticeable for handling. Big trucks no longer suck the trailer over when passing and more stable in crosswinds.

Spent the day cleaning and doing some preventative maintenance on the 7*18 for this trip. Gotta admit, much more comfortable than the 6x12, but just too big for getting way out there.. A great boondocker in terms of water, holding tanks, and power ( self containment), but has to be somewhat decent dirt roads with plenty of space to turn around and etc..
