I was bored the other day and put together a solar shower. It will hold a total of 6 gallons, technically only 5 when pressurized. All 4" sched 40 ABS just over 120" long. It will live up on top of the trailer. More than likely will not travel with it filled unless I know that I am going somewhere there isn't a water supply of some sorts. more often than not we are camped by a creek or stream. I still need a hose, have plenty of spray nozzles.
To pressurize I will use my 12v tire pump. You don't need much pressure 20-25psi. You could pump it up with a bicycle pump if you wanted. For my fill cap I am using an Oatney test plug. From a safe distance I ran the pressure up until the plug blew out. 40 psi seems to be the magic number for lift off. And yes the plug flew a good 40 ft straight up and fell right back down at a rate of 9.82m/sec². So well above the needed pressure to take a navy shower. Please note that if you build something like this you need a some sort of pressure blowout to ensure you don't blow the pvc up.
The fill spout, tire valve and hose bib are at the front of the trailer. At the aft end of the trailer is the clean out. I wanted to be able to dump all the water and leave it open when not in use. I wanted all the other stuff up front so I can stand on the tongue or tongue box to access everything. In a pinch I can fill using one of my buckets or whatever. I do have a drill pump and that could make things easier so I may go that route. I usually have a drill along with my anyways. Then I could dip a 5 gallon bucket set it by the tongue and pump the water up.
I sourced all my parts locally and have around $30.00 invested. I still need to make the mounting hardware which I need to work on this weekend. It will go up on roof, starboard side. I plan on having supports at every roof rafter and near each end. I will attach the whole mess to the uprights on the roof rack.
