Respecting heater size, you might try experimenting with a cheap 110v space heater to determine your needs. Here is a link to convert btu to watts.

For example, 30,000 btu and 3,000 btu is equivalent to about 8,800 watts and 880 watts, respectively.

My $15 space heater from Walmart has two settings … 750 watts and 1,500 watts. This heater heats my well insulated, 16 feet long trailer fairly well in the wintertime.

When I boondock in the wintertime, I use a cheap 5k watt Chinese diesel heater that will heat up my trailer from 30 degrees to 70 degrees in about 30 minutes before I idle it down to its lowest setting of about 1,300 watts. Even at the lowest setting, I have to open windows extra wide to keep the temperature at a comfortable 70 degrees. I love my diesel heater. Extremely fuel and amps efficient.

I think I have sourced my three windows, amazon has new 30x24 horizontal slide windows to go above each wheel well $144 each, a 21x14 Horizontal window for the bunk bed $84.

What type of insulation can go in the actual man door? Is it something to worry? I have also wondered about the Ramp as that is a massive wall when closed?

We're running a Chinese diesel heater, and we are very happy with it. It heats the camper up quickly and easily, and uses very little fuel. We've had it in some very cold conditions, 0 degrees, and it has worked great. Here's how we did ours:



The heater itself is actually in that boxed in area under the green sleeping bag. This is in the kitchen cabinet under the stove. The vent is on the outside of the same cabinet door. We're really happy with the heater, and would highly recommend it!

Followed through to the write up, I’ll look into it. Considering the size I am double the sqr footage. I always have diesel on hand in the aux tank but two of those little guys might work. One in the kitchen area and one under the table.

I do like the wall mount like McDave runs but the forced air has lots of benefits. Maybe a place for both in the rig


I honestly have my floor plan much like kirkupnorths set up just more room for bikes and an additional bed is all

No desire for much water but to wash hands, maybe a small indoor shower where his pantry is

and call it finished.

Parts are ordered for now need to finish the drive side wall and cut windows

Anyone with a fast link to howto window cutting to save finish on exterior ?

Depending on how thick your wall assembly is using a jigsaw is the easiest method to cut in windows. My walls are just over an 1” thick. I use a metal blade in my Bosch jig saw and it is long enough to cut both the outside and inside skins. I like to make the cut from the outside. Prior to laying out the cut I place blue tape around the window area (see post 31 in my build thread). This will protect the surface from the jig saw foot. Layout the window cut out. Drill a starter hole all the way through the wall. Make your cut. The type of windows I am using have interior clamp rings that hide any tear out from the blade. When using a metal blade through wood this is minimal anyways and could be sanded out if needed.

If your walls are thicker than what the jig saw blade will cut your process will be different and may involve using more than one tool to make the cuts or different blades in the jig saw.

Another option for windows is "playhouses/shed" windows on Amazon. Even have tempered glass and they slide up and down.
I found some that were flush mounting.
Might even have the option putting in a ac unit in temporarily during camping stops.
