Got to replace the front wheel bearing, then I am going to try out that winch. Loading up for a 4 day camping and riding trip at my go to place in Ocala National Forest. Looks like the weather is going to be good.

The winch pulled the bike in effortlessly, but I need to modify the cable pull with a fixed attachment point for the winch hook. It wanted to pull off center and catch the knobbies on the side. Had to stop twice to adjust. I think it will be an easy fix. This is going to be great when I am off by myself and cannot find a good place to back down into to load up. That is still the easiest way.. but not always available





The winch attachment plate worked out very well. I was concerned it may not be very stable. The winch attaches rather loosely to the plate.

Upgrading hitches this month. I bought an Andersen No Sway Weight Balancing hitch for my 7x18. It is the very light chain version and also has the 2.5 inch shank for the F250. I was using a 2.5 to 2.0 inch adapter previously on the old HaulMaster Weight Balancing Hitch (bought for the F150) and it had way too much play for my liking.. I will be installing the Andersen hitch for my trip in May to Griffin State Park in the 7x18.

I also bought a Curtis 2.5 inch hitch with a .5 inch rise for the 6x12 which is perfect height for the 6x12 since I changed up axle and spring position to gain about a 6 inch lift.

I probably don't need it, but I also took one of the anti-sway controls from the 7x18 HaulMaster setup and added it to the 6x12. I was able to modify a Reese connector plate used on 2 inch hitches to fit the 2.5 inch hitch and the 1 1/4 inch ball shank. Couldn't find one to fit otherwise.

I'll remove the anti-Sway control for backing up or at the point I get off pavement. This should make it rock steady in any case and offset any sway the LT Tires could conceivably create (the LT All terrain Tires did not change the ride at all on the first trip took).

Lots of upgrades this month. I have a 100W solar panel and 10A MPPT Charge controller that I bought years ago for a remote panel when I am camped in shade. It is time to use it.


I mounted the 10A MPPT Controller in the rear of the appliance stack and will connect the panel via a SAE plug.

For the panel (100W Renogy Monocrystalline) , I will connect a 35ft 10ga stranded DC cable ( also had in shed) via an SAE on one side to mate with Controller, and MC4 for the panel end.

This panel should more than cover the fridge usage and most of the lighting. I should be able to get at least 5A for 8 or more hours during a day (40aH) to supplement charging when the 420W of panels on the trailer have shade or sun just for a few hours. Also will give me 520W in full sun if I need it.


Will program this for LiFePo4 parameters tomorrow.




I need to re-install these stand legs on the panel. I had made these a while back when I used the panel a few times on the 7x18.

Used the portable 100W panel to get what sun I could. 4 nights and days and used the gen only 4 hours. Came home with about 50% capacity. Probably could have got away with no generator contribution.




Now back home and have to unload.

Yeah Flboy, I gutted mine and used #12 extension cord on the 120v stuff. old #12 flat extension cord for 12v lighter/outlets and 16-2 cble for LED lighting switch legs.
Routing the wires in metal walls took some imagination. I settled on a 45` sofit board running the length of the trailer on both sides. This helped with new clearance lights as well.

The new 2.5 inch hitch specifically for the 6x12 and the added Anti-Sway control worked out super. Really no sway to speak of with good crosswinds and large vehicles passing. The short trailers with single axles seem to sway alot more than the longer ones. In any case, for me, this works great and the trailer and truck are aligned perfectly.

Mr. Buddy backup doing its thing on low and connected to the 20lb propane bottle out front. Glad I have it. I am just afraid to go to sleep with this burning. Been running all day and Co2 sensor does not even register any Co2... however, still not convinced.

How do you like the counter top? I tried some peel and stick tiles for my countertop. I peeled and stuck them down. Since then, they have taken “pealing” pretty seriously, without much regard for “sticking.” I’ve considered scrapping the whole damn kitchen area and starting over, but this may be a solution. I don’t think I’d pick black, but a lighter color might be the ticket.
