Set it up in the yard. Pretty basic, but that's what camping is right? Gotta figure what to use to guy it out if there are no trees available (or fences ). My tent stakes didn't hold in the sandy yard, which is what we will run into camping anywhere in FL. I had forgotten that I opted for the 10x10.

For the soil (sand), you have to deal with I'd use some of these screwed in at an angle away from the pole.

Only about 1/2 done insulating the walls. Keep running into things that need doing. However, learning a lot as I go... such as how to re-attach wires at the splice, change outside led lights, remove stripped screws (only 2). Got a look at the top of the trailer, thought it would be prettier
Anyway, gotta work a couple days, then trudging on. Life is good!

Finished insulating the walls, ceiling next, then ramp.
Put in the eye-bolts for the shade sail attachment points. Ordered a 12 volt fan from Amazon. Things are moving along a bit.


So, I just pulled off a couple pieces of luan and found that the entire ceiling is covered with plywood also. Gotta tell ya'll, I am a little overwhelmed by the prospect of removing and putting back that heavy stuff up high. Maybe I can leave it off and replace it with something lighter. Time to quit for the day

The entire ceiling is covered with plywood? That seems very odd. Did you order your trailer so you could walk around on the roof or is that what they used for insulation ( I though you said somewhere you bought it insulated on the ceiling.. didn't look back on your thread)?

In any case... post up some pics... that shouldn't be structural so you should be able put back up the Luan over the insulation ( assuming the plywood was not meant to be structure to hold things together? Can you call the dealer or manufacturer of the trailer to see why they put plywood on the ceiling? I'd do that first in any case.

As near as I can see from the little bit I have pulled off is the layering goes: Aluminum skin, bubble insulation, metal studs, 12 wide plywood strips crosswise, thinner plywood covering all that, then the Luan. I'll try to get a pic up tomorrow.
Also looking at the roof, it is very wavy...

I've not seen that before. Well, I think I would measure the depth remaining. Then either fill with appropriate insulation, or you might want to "fir" the ceiling to the size you had planed on using. So if you have been adding 1" and the depth is now 1/2" you would now fir the roof supports 1/2" then install 1" insul. make sense?

It's my understanding from comments that the bubble insulation won't be enough. In the clear light of a new day, I am thinking to just add an inch onto what is there and not take the plywood down. Might make for a weird situation for the vent though. I don't think we will miss the inch of height. Seems like the easiest solution.

Kathy, You can add more insulation then by leaving the plywood there and adding furring strips lengthwise and putting insulation in between. The luan can then attach to the furring strips. Dont worry about the fan trim. You should be able to order a new piece which will come real deep and you then cut it to fit the depth of the ceiling.

Unless you are building interior walls or putting up cabinets at the roof line, this is something you could wait to do after some use to see how hot it really gets with your AC and etc.. Just a thought.

If you go back to about pg 15 or so on my build, you can see how I did something similar.

FINALLY finished the insulation!! I decided to see how effective the factory insulation in the ceiling will be. Our 1st trip will be a bit north, so it may be okay. Missed two 10x36 panels in the ramp as I was unable to remove the door latches. Decided not to "sweat" it Going to insulate the exhaust on the ac tomorrow and then start putting the trim back up. after that a counter in the vee. Hoping to get one in before our trip on the 4th. Not going to sweat that if it doesn't get done either. Got a 12 volt fan from Amazon, kicks it up pretty good. I'm tired...
