Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

So far working EXCELENT, I've got it running pretty much 24/7 on solar.
a few times by accident I left it on while driving around , at first I was scared it would
not be good for that, NO PROBLEM. However I do try to turn it off while driving around.
Mine is a 9,000 but Pridiom inverter with heat pump, about $1300 but it has soft start
250 watts - then slowly ramps up to 700 watts max, then slowly back down to 250 watts.
I have even closed off just my bed area 6 x 6 x 3' high area and it uses even less juice.
In general I burn about 250 watts average per hour when 90 F outside, cooling to 73 inside.
unit will cool down to low of 60 deg if desired. Remember I have 3-4" foam in the wall,
floor, doors , ceiling & no windows, I could run ac 100% on 750 watts in solar.
this unit could run on 1,000 watt pure sine inverter.
I did a bunch of mini splits, on short runs always skipped the vac - after 5 years still no
problems. If long run & high humidity , maybe get vac.
R410A is cheap to recharge if needed, anybody can buy it.
The unit runs super quiet 35-45 dB , condenser sits under my bed
sucks air from a 12x12" hole under floor, blows out to side vent also 12x12"
I added a 2nd 12v radiator fan with variable speed controller - comes on at 50% power
if temp under my bed exceed 92F. Ac Gen runs 5 min , 2nd blower fan comes on , about 1 min after
ac shuts down , so does 2nd fan. I installed fan just as safety back up $60
Not really needed, but better safe then sorry, my ac system Is 1,000% STEALTH,
almost impossible to detect even when standing next to exhaust vent cover.

I have some updated data, because i'm always collecting that stuff.
The ac was connected 500 hours and used approx. 65KW in power
this includes running day and night with the doors closed.
The night time heat is mostly from the TV, fridge, DVR, inverters and body heat

On my blog I have posted pictures of my "Air - IN - A - BAG" project
an ARB compressor, a remote 30 amp switch & Lithium battery to operate the compressor.
A must have for off road Jeep or trailer fans.

its easier to post pictures there......
I will also be posting pictures of:

A 300 watt panel installed on my Tundra bed,

A Barker electric trailer jack AND

the Santa Cruz 2015 - 21st Woodie Car meet if your interested check it out there, it will be up in the next few days.

A few more ?'s: where and how much did you spend on you li batt? Yours abit overkill for what my goals are but if I can find a cheap source over the used AGM I have it may be worth it down the line. Just to confirm in the end you've got 1kw of panels on your roof right? Are in sf ca? If so that puts you in the 6.0 range for peak avg solar day so with a generic avg of 75-80% efficiency on the DC side you should be seeing 4.5kW output over the day. So it sounds like you've nailed your install about as good as you'll get there. My goal would be to run solar during most of the day in the long run, as I don't have the space, level of use or cash to justify storage of it.

Appreciate the inspiration. Mini split shows up in the next few days, we'll see if I got the measurements right to make the mounting work. If not hopefully I can return it and suck up a rooftop without to much pain. I' think if I had some cash and spare time you could make a killing overhauling a minsplit into a rooftop unit mount. The difference in specs between them (conventional rooftop and mini splits) are ridiculous.

Cheer...

Theres lots off different mini splits. They go from $300 to $1800 for a single unit 9,000 btu
SEER 13 to SEER 30 now

I can't tell you my source, but I got my Lithium for about $300 @ 100 AH......the best street price now is around $600 @ 100AH
MANY SUCKERS are even paying $1,000+ @ 100AH with worthless BMS.

I STILL SAY, even at $1,000 bucks for 100AH is better then Flooded or glass matt batteries....
Nobody here listens to me. Just this year RV industry is catching ON FIRE with solar & Lithium, especially Roadtrek
NOW.... everybody wanna run their ac on Solar & lithium....even if only for 1-2 hours.

http://roadtreking.com/rv-lithium-batteries/

http://Roadtreking.com/new-all-season-roadtrek-popular-190-anniversary-edition-revealed/

I have 1,000 watts solar in a single string, total over 2500 watts & adding 300 to my Tundra, so 2,800 solar watts Total 8) 8)
AGAIN, flooded batts will only get you 50% of the solar.....OUTPUT....
I saw that when I changed over from flooded....

Simple math
100AH - Lithium = to better then 225AH flooded or Glassmat sealed.
100 AH lithium 32 lbs - 225 AH flooded = 127 Lbs
100 watts solar on Lithium batteries better then = 200 watts solar on Flooded
Solar to Lithium batteries 96% efficient
Solar to flooded batteries maybe 75% efficient

Lithium is from the 1980 - Flooded is from the 1850's

I can't tell you how to turn lead into gold......
But I can tell you how to turn your GOLD into LEAD with flooded batteries

GarryS had a great question about how to do black water tanks, which are not my favorite....

((( unless your hooked up at an RV Park )))

BUT... I found this new info that was really cool for trailer toilets

or his story

I built my own box & I installed a bilge blower fan, a little loud, but ZERO SMELL when i drop a bomb in the pot.....

I would be using 20 gallons a day on black water & you gotta pay to dump that crap to boot.

Jerry, question. Do you ever notice any appreciable heat in the LFP pack after a big recharge or big discharge? Just curious , and looking at replacing the cabin lead

Took some thinking to recall.... last winter was too mild here. By the time this came up it never got cold enough.

Didn't think we had to trade tit-for-tat, though

I spent this last week in LA at the 2015 Solar exhibit :D :D :D :D

Stay tuned the 500 watt panels, rated to 185 MPH are coming for your CT

Sonnen - Batteries makes a nice 8,000 watt rack with Lithium Batteries & Outback Radiant inverter only $15k, for the small off grid user.

Finally reviled why OTTCT needs 2800 watts solar

Glad to know it'll run on batteries
