Those Beta's are nice. They sponsor alot of Dual Sport events I go to and have demos there. They are a bit exotic here like KTMs were a long time ago.. but I work on my own stuff so I'd not think twice. I like my KTM which I've had for 12 years. Just had to put new wheels on it. The original Excel wheels were in bad shape.

My first real dirtbike was a 79 KX400 which was the first year for the monoshock. I bought it used in 81 when I was 17. It was a powerful bike in its day. I was a bit afraid of it given the bike before that was a Honda XR75 I rode until I was 14. It had a sudden hitting power band that you had better be holding on for.

I rode that for a year before I went into the Army, then I never saw it again.

Nice bikes. The KTM Freeride would also interest me. But it's just dreaming large.
I'll admit I needed to do maintenance on my TW before now. Not trying to sound dramatic. But before January 11,2016, I didn't know if I'd make it to the next day. I'd ride when I could not wrench. So I owe it to my TW to check it all over, this winter. Got to be ready for spring.

OOOOOOoooWWeeee! Wheels look good on the scooter! Warp 9's are the bees knees, eyeballing the Tusks for my CRF, read nice things about them for the price... Amazon just got all my wheel money for the trailer tho. ONF was probably a blast, can't wait to get over there soon.

Thanks on the wheels. I took a chance on the Warp 9s. I guess I'll find out if that was a good idea or not soon.

You near ONF? You'll have to camp with Tommy and I sometime. We camp in the CTCs and hit the Delancey trail system. There is some decent single track in there.

Always heard Warp 9's were top notch personally.

And yea pretty close to Ocala, I'm in Jacksonville Beach and just started riding more trails again since all my track buddies are hurt or hung the boots up. Plus my back likes trails a little more these days unfortunately. Only problem for me in regards to the National Forests is I have a CRF 450, thus no spark arrestor. I need to just bite the bullet and get a new pipe that is compliant because I really want to start hitting the forests more now. Thanks for inviting a total newb to the site to ride with yall, very much appreciated sir. I will most definitely be taking you up on that in the future!!

Just doing some needed maintenance before my next ride event in a few weeks. Taking the CTC to Dade City for an AMA Devil's Creek Dual Sport event. 250 miles offroad over two days. We will camp at the staging area and do 125 mile loops each day. That is a long day in sand, woods, swamp and a few connecting dirt roads.

Replacing shock seals and fluids, checking/adjustings valves, flushing break lines, radiator, and changing oil, and etc.. Should be ready after that.

Here's a quick 2 min video I made a few years ago... same place. The event combines the camping and the riding with a lot of comradery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H_mViuRYt8

Here's a 5 min video of my son and I riding out from the house to a local place when he was home one weekend. He rides the DRZ. Having a tag on a dirtbike is nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md7TdIw7wT4&t=2s

Nice KTM. I used to ride supermoto and had a 2013 KTM 500 EXC that I converted. Sold it and bought a Aprilia Tuono.

LOL... not sure where I got that music from... The 2 min video was with GoPro default sound tracks and not sure where the other came from. It is all I had in my repertoire at the time. :-)

I installed the hand pump today for the fresh drinking water. I am going to put a 2.5gal (or 5 for longer trips) bottle under the sink for drinking only that I can hand pump for coffee or etc.. I plan on keeping the FW holding tanks clean, but I don't want to have to be too concerned about being 100% sanitary.

The 64 gallons in my FW holding tanks is primarily for showers, dishes, and toilet flushing. I was carrying separate drinking water anyhow.

I'd rather drink filtered water when I can, so this way I can fill up a few jugs at home before I leave and I don't have to keep them out to access them. Also can refill them for a few bucks at Wal Mart or other places if on the road. The jugs will just sit under the counter out of the way.

Yup,
We drink bottled water when camping or on the road. The tap water here is fine, but I try not to carry a full tank down the highway, and just fill up at the last stop before leaving the pavement. So far I've only used for showers/toilet, but you never know so I add a couple caps of Clorox when filling. If the frig. isn't full I fill it with water bottles. More mass = less air, holds the cold better/less run time. When you open the door the cold air falls out, warm air in.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it...

Howdy All;

Ok, odd duck checkin' in ...

I keep my RV's fresh water tank about 1/2 full as a general rule. I'll use it for everything,
that's what it's there for after all. Every 6 months to once a year (my forgetter gets
better each year ... I think). Anyway, what I do is this, for every 10 gal. of water that
the tank holds I use 1oz. of bleach. Fill the tank, turn on the pump, and open the taps
(hot and cold), at each sink and the shower until I can smell the bleach. I'll go camp
and fish for a day or 2 and when I come back I'll dump the tank using the dump valve,
y'all have installed dump valves right(?), then fill it up and run the pump until the bleach
smell goes away. End result is perfectly good and usable water for all purposes and more
space to pack 'other stuff' where you used to pack your water bottles that you also need
to keep track of so you can pack them out.

I have a dump valve for sure and will occasionally sanitize. I filter my city water at home before I drink it due to chlorine taste and etc. This kills two birds with one stone for me. Don't have to be real regular on sanitizing the system and I don't have to carry some sort of water filter as most places you fill up at are from municipal systems. In this case I am adding some extra fresh water capacity. Honestly. I am most likely the odd duck. :-)

Also, in the department of redundancy, I am thinking of what I'd do about a OD water pump fail on a remote boondocking trip. Can bypass the OD pump, connect in the hand pump and at least get water from the sink area to wash up and flush/rinse the toilet with.

I may just put the easy connect fitting in my main line under the sink for this case and install a valved bypass for the pump so I don't have to do it under field conditions. I have all the parts left over from the build.

I think the anode may be part of the adapters/reducers.
This could also be a boon to your radiant heat system as well, if you have AC power available.
McDave

You guys may remember the conversation we were having about the AC Kit I put in my propane hot water heater back in May. I learned something about that setup last time I went camping. It works fine either gas or electric, but because the gas thermostats are hotter than the electric, when I turn off the gas and go electric, I need to reset the thermal breaker on the electric thermostat. I am going to see if I can get some "cooler" thermostats for the gas heater anyhow because it will scald you if you are not careful... It would be nice if I could get them close to the same temperature... But if not, both systems work well independently...I just have to reset the breaker on the the electric side.

Did a few small things in between prepping my dirt bike for the Devils Creek Dual-sport Raleigh in a few weeks. I checked and adjusted the valves, serviced the front shocks, changed oils, flushed brake lines, put on new brakes, cleaned all filters/screens , tightened spokes, etc.. etc.. The KTM is in tip top shape now. Sorry to bore you with the bike stuff.. but for me, they go hand in hand. That's why I built a hauler instead of just a regular camper.. :-)

I found a 2.5 gallon water jug at Wal-Mart today that has a wide mouth for filling and a valve which I was able to fit and seal the hose to the hand pump in. I'll fill it before I leave each time and take a few gallons to refill as needed,

Image

The Fresh water hand pump: This is just for drinking and cooking and I may hook up reversionary valves to my Fresh Water holding tanks so I can pump water to the sink if the On Demand pump quits while I am out in the middle of nowhere.

Image

I found some more storage drawers that fit well under the bathroom vanity. About $9.54 for these. Really no point in spending money to build wood shelves and drawers. I just a have a few more cabinets to fix up and then that will be done.

Image

I used velcro and mounted the screen on the Emergency Exit window, Now I can push the window out for ventilation without the bugs getting in. That window really lets a lot of air in.

Image

While running around today I found one of these cheap little hydrometers to keep in the CTC for checking the batteries with when I service them (check water level) every 60 days or so. Along with the voltmeter, this will be another good status check on the battery health.
