Well wanted to do this for a while and decided to get started so i ordered a 6 X 10 trailer. I would like to thank those who post pics and Idea's as this has been great food for thought ! The trailer I have ordered is insulated with an RV side door with a window in it and another window across the trailer on the other side. I plan to use the trailer for transporting my ATV and camping in with my wife. I notice most of you have installed an air conditioner but here in BC Canada I think I will need heat more ha ha!
Well, I will post pics when I get it. And probably a few questions.

Welcome!!!

Can't wait to see YOUR pictures. Did you get a ramp or will it have barn-style doors?

It has the barn doors ,I would like to be able to open one side and have bug screen covering the opening. so i will be able to see out from bed !

Jeff and I went campin last weekend !

He built a wall of 2x2 and incorporated a screen door in it as an entrance the rest is simply screen pulled over the frame. It is attached to the trailer framing in about 4 places and is easily removable if he wants to.

There it is ( Don't tell I stoled it out of his album :D

We're thinking some windows will give us what we need, although we have a screen "gig" set up for the side door.

I wanted a teardrop with a galley, John wanted an ample sleeping/storage area. This will be quite enough for us (BIG budget issues). Next time (note that I'm on the second build. HA!)... Anyway, we'll know how this one camps and can make the appropriate mods when the time (and money) comes.

Ahhh... trailer not here yet. maybe one more week..........
I Like the screen cover. would work well with lots of air flow.
I’ve found a heater I want but the wife is limiting my spending but here it is

:campfire:
So far I have the flooring, the blinds, the sink. some RV cupboards from a scrapped trailer, a propane gas reducer valve, LED lighting, The futon mattress to sleep on, a set of 4 computer speakers with sub for IPOD connection(speakers are powered by a 120 ac to 12v dc adapter Perfect! a little splice and I’m set!)
All Im missing is the trailer and room in my garage!
Will Keep updating
Darren

Nice heaters. But wow -- expensive. The smaller one is still over $1K. They're very small though. Marine stuff is usually great that way.

I'm with you -- a 6'x10' on order. Mine's due to arrive third week of April. The waiting's killing me (so to speak). I keep thinking 6'x10' is too small, but then I think of all the other people here working with that or less... 5'x8'!

I'm also looking forward to your pictures. Don't forget to take "in process" pictures while you're installing/building into it.

A few years ago I did this with a 7x14. I could just barely get one quad and one dirt bike in it. My beds folded up on the side walls. When down they met in the middle. I copied the toy hauler concept. They could be configured into a dinette too. My kitchen was across the front wall. I'll see if I can find a couple of pics. More food for thought. Happy building.

Here are a couple of pics of the 7x14 I converted for camping with a quad and dirt bike several years ago. I got pretty much everything from Ebay, a local surplus store and Habitat for Humanity. I did pay retail for the custom futons.

Well Ive started,
-Installed the vinyl roof, I still have to put the cross strips up as I have not stained them yet

Image

-Started the wiring UG..... The Battery box is in just have to finish the venting to the outside and make the air tight lid and go crazy with the silicone (isolating it from the cabin)

Image

Image

-The 110v system is in, installed the power plug in the rear, the breaker box and connections are just behind the side door.

Image

-Installed a 2/4 amp 12v charger and also a separate portable 800w power supply that will be connected to the main batteries.

Have started the cabinet, have the front layout in place 5 doors across and 3 drawers above them
