If that is the case, the answer is to switch to LEDs. Go to eBay.com and type in the search bar: 12v LED bulb. The selection is fairly broad. Replacement bulbs for many applications are available. The more LEDs per bulb, the better, usually. They give off almost no heat, hence they prevent much battery drain.

I have six fixtures in my trailer with 57 LEDs per bulb. All turned on (342 light emitting diodes!), they drop the DC voltage by .3 volts per hour on my digital meter that stays plugged in to a cigarette lighter receptacle...which is a power drain also. The place is lit up like high noon.

Florescent bulbs suck (electricity). :baby: Incandescent bulbs suck more.

Ronaldito,

Crude! My battery is dead. I left that digital voltmeter plugged in!

Well...looks like it's back to the ol' kerosene hurricane lanterns and black soot on my ceiling.

Just kiddin'! ;)

I have no ammeter to measure the draw. Sorry.

I'm more interested in how much white light the LEDs put out than I am about how many amps they draw from the battery.

I have a large, spare solar panel that puts out 4.5 amps to the battery. I can pull it out and use it when dry camping, or just plug in my battery charger if I'm at a full-facilities campground.
