Sealing the Underbody

Postby SmilinJack » Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:24 am

I'd like to seal the underbody of my trailer to prevent the plywood floor from absorbing water and eventually rotting.

What products do you folks use to seal the underbody of the trailer? Where do you purchase the products?

Thanks for your replies...

I've been getting ready to post the same question! How to keep the floor from rotting from road water and air moisture?

A good answer will help us both! :)

I've coated my trailer plywood floors with epoxy, extra coatings on the endgrain. Then rolled on a coating or two of black asphalt roof coat to absorb impact from rocks and debris. I used Gardner brand black roof goo, It was less than $10 a gallon.

I used 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of exterior paint. I used silicone at every wood and metal joint. That was a real pain. I only have about 1000 miles on the trailer..so far so good.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.
