Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I just bought a new 12" X 18" 90 degree window with rounded corners along with a trim/clamp ring for 1.25 inch thick walls from Redneck trailers (1.25 inch seems to be the thickest wall for RVs).

My Cargo has 1" walls with 3/4" plywood attached on the inside for total width of wall = 1.75 inches.

No instructions came with the window so was hoping to get some ideas here. I did a search but did not find any detailed info on a Cargo window install with an extra thick wall like mine.

Here is my plan of action so far:

I will be interested in the answers also as I will have 2" thick walls in mine, but the clamp rings are thinner also...but I do have a question for you. 3/4" interior wall plywood? I saw you had the walls opened up for insulation so I suppose you know how thick the plywood is but I thought 3/8" was sort of the premium interior wall thickness on cargo trailers. Was yours specially built?

Should have bought windows with the proper trim rings.. I just bought some 14x22" windows for 65 bucks plus an extra 10 for custom trim rings.. 1"3/8" rings. They told me they can make the trim rings from 1/2 to 3" The standard was 1" and didn't cost any extra.

Thanks, Its really easy to do. You just have to get over the first hole with that drill bit lol.. I removed my plywood and cut the hole in just the metal. Then replaced the plywood traced the hole, Removed it for cutting then put it all together.
I got his info off of ebay.. I seen his windows there and ordered them on the phone since I needed the custom trim rings. Here is his contact info 269-665-9060 or email [email protected] They have a website also but I can't remember it off the top of my head. Just give them a call maybe he can just make you some rings to fit your windows.

BTW you want the rings a little smaller then your wall. IE I got 1"3/8" rings but my walls also have 1/4" paneling on them. So thats really what 1"5/8" thick wall? If your total wall thickness is 1" 3/4" you probably want your Rings something like 1"5/8" or maybe even 1"1/2"

If Redneck can not/will not exchange/make good with the right clamp ring (I did tell the salesman my dimensions but did not get the right parts.......) I will contact your guy.

2 emails to Redneck have gone unanswered so far.....I will give them a call tomorrow to see if they will take it back unless they can make the right part for me

I am still out the shipping even if they do

I've added a couple more pics to my album. Two of them show the window/frame screwed together just before I installed them. What you can't see in the pic is the nice rubber gasket on the window. BTW, the frame is 2" and I had no problems putting it in. Just work slowly and try to visualize each step before doing it.

Thanx so much for the link to Fred Bear. I was able to return my original window to Redneck (via Trailerville) and they even refunded shipping since they could not get the right trim ring.

I bought 2-21" by 14" windows with the right rings from Fred. They just barley fit between the studs. Took me most of the day yesterday to install both.

I will try to post some pics here....if it does not work see my album for the pics in order of the install along with a description of the method I used ( worked from the outside in).
