Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Last week when i was on my way back from the lake i put my boats gas tank inside my cargo trailer for the way home. Apparantly it wasnt secured down well enough and tipped over and spilled 50:1 TWO STROKE mix all over my floor. I put baking soda over the spill and it sucked some of it up but the smell is still there very heavily. The bad thing is that i was just about to lay the carpet down for the conversion. Is there a way to get rid of the smell or even to seal it in. I'm open to any and all tricks

Charcoal works very well at absorbing odors, but be sure to use pieces without lighter fluid. If necessary you can seal the piece with shellac.

I had a similar problem with a wood floor in a garage. I soaked the area with liberal amounts of 91% isopropyl alcohol, scrubbed it with a stiff brush, wiped up the excess, and then put a fan on it to help evaporate the remains...worked like a charm! Went from overwhelming to no smell with one treatment.

You can stuff the drawers with crumpled up newspapers. They usually take odors out of things easily. Wait a few days & then remove newspaper. If it's not gone yet, do it again. It should work!

I've used an air purifier (ozone) to get rid of gasoline smells in my car before. I used an Alpine portable unit (now manufactured by Qcoquest).
One of my friends also succesfully removed gas odors from inside his Super Beetle using newspapers. He just opened up a bunch of newspapers and some crumpled which absorbed the gas odor. Don't ask me how it works, I just know it worked. Granted those were both much smaller areas than in a CT.

Also good for soaking up oil. I once over oiled a new leather rifle sling two days before leaving on an extended hunting trip, and I mean I really over oiled it. A friend suggested putting the sling in kitty litter overnight. The litter pulled all the excess oil from the sling and I was good to go.
