Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hi Cargo Trailer interested folks,

I was thinking about buying a Cargo Trailer for hauling some tools and stuff, and it got me thinking about an option I haven't seen, but perhaps has been done and I just missed it. Has anyone installed an RV door in the side of their cargo trailer? Seems like a good idea since they have the screen included. I found one on Ebay today for $150 or so. I got this pic from PPL Motor Homes dot com

Yup. With radius corners and quite a few inches cut off the bottom of the door.

Is cutting down a normal sized RV door what you would consider the typical way to do this, or was it just a matter of what you had available to work with? I found this photo on page 5 of your build thread.

The dealer I'm talking to has a door with small window and a built in screen door like an RV.
it does cost extra when ordering but is something I have on my build list.

Is it going to be like a 36" cargo door or a narrower RV entry door?

I added an RV door also. I got it from the RV dealer I was working for at the time. Mine had been damaged but the damage was on the lower part of the door which was cut off when I shortened the door. Shortening the door (and screen door) isn't difficult but does take some time to do it right. My door is 29 inches wide and the original plywood door was 36 inches wide so I welded in an additional wall stud and added some white sheet metal. I wanted a narrower door for more interior wall space.

RV doors are top quality, insulated, light and water tight! They attach super easily with butyl tape and screws. They range from 5 ft. 8 inches high to over 6 ft.

Cargo trailer walls are usually less. Cutting excess off the bottom of the door is the only option. (It can't come off the top of the door because of the radius corners and waterproof seal.)

Check out Joel's 5-wide Rimple on the Hall of Fame. We cut so much off the bottom of the door that we barely retained the handle to open the screen door.

36-inch wide door on Joel's Rimple, but there's something like a 27-inch wide door on his motorhome in the background. The wider the better, usually.

36er on my Featherlite and on my Round Tail build (in Member Designs).
