Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am looking to convert a 7x16 double axle Cargo trailer. I will be using it to head out to Colorado with 2 full sized ATVs, and then to camp in. The ATV's plus camping gear could be up to 2,000 lbs. Can anyone tell me the difference between the double torsion axls and the spring version? Mainly I will be traveling fairly good dirt roads, but the last mile might be on a rutted out crappy stretch. Would one version be a benefit over the other?

It might also be a benefit for me to get a few more inches in ground clearance. I have read that some people do this with a smaller single axle, but I have not seen anyone do this to a tandem axle trailer.

I am a total newb to this, I am just trying to avoid regrets later on.

Most trailers in that size have a gvw of 7000 lbs. I think with only 2000 of gear you may be bouncing down the road with springs. Torsion axles ride smoother, but dirt roads are spring axle teriorty. I think a trailer normally outfitted for snowmobiles would work best for you. They are mostly high riding spring trailers.
