Does anyone have an ideas on a DIY bed lift system? I looked at at one online about $2000.00 way to expensive.

Johnnie, could you give us a little more info on what you are looking for? I have visions of a bed lift system that uses a small hoist, but am not sure what you have in mind.

Happijac® Vertical Bed Lift Systems, is about $2000.00 lifts bed from the floor of the rv up to the ceiling. I would like to beable to lift the bed above the motorscooters and then when they are out of the rv, lower the bed to a more usable height.

Why not a winch and 4 pulleys. Simple and inexpensive compared to $2000.00.

I saw this on youtube and it has a let down bed near the end of the video.

two things
one) think pop-up and its cabling
two) some toy haulers have beds mounted on swing arms think swing set.
when down it rest on supports on the side of the trailer it swings forward and up held there with latches or removable supports.

is there a reason twin beds that fold up against the wall won't work or do you just want one that rises to the roof?

I too have looked at the lift systems but too much money. Have been designing one that will lift a queen bed to the ceiling of my CT. Will use a 12 VDC tongue lift jack with appropiate pulleys to lift via 4 cables one to each corner. When bed is in down or travel position will be additional secured via quick insert and remove pins. This one of many addtions to my CT once I get it emptied again (moved daugther to Texas).

Much cheaper to make 'em fold up against the walls and fold down when the toys are out.
My first ideas were about wall to wall descending bed or a disassembled bed that ran between E track saddles on the walls, but I eventually settled on something less exotic and less trouble.
My roughly built one makes a (near) King sized bed, in a 6 x 10, and sets up in seconds.

I also just did mine so the fold down.. I looked around for a bed lift like whats in commercial toy haulers. 1500-2000 is pretty standard. Which seems nuts to me. Just the frames for the beds are like 500 bucks to add a second bed.

You could get the bed to go up and down with out to much trouble. A few cables. A pulley here and there and a small winch. I kicked around making one and either just have fold down legs on the frame. Or have the bed frame drop down and have some brackets on the wall that it would connect to. I decided it would be a lot of trouble for no real reason. Fold down setup is simple and works. If you make it out of 1" steel square tube it doesn't stick off the wall much and is pretty light.. My wife is 5' 2" and has NP folding our full size bed down with the memory foam mattress on it..
