Hi everyone,

I have had a request by my wife to find a way to install a RV toilet in our CT. I remember once seeing a picture of another member's CT build. He had made a box with a lid that held a toilet off the floor at the right height and kept it out of sight when not in use. I have searched for this picture and cannot find it. Does anyone else remember this? Has anyone else done this?

I purchased a Century 2.8 gal portable toilet. It's only about a foot tall. I would like to set it up off the floor. The box I remember seeing had a hinged lid that gave you access. I thought the idea looked great, but I didn't pay much attention at the time. I remember enough of the idea, but I just cannot seem to find the original picture or thread.

I looked through overthetop's thread and pictures. Unless I missed it, he appears to have a whole separate bathroom built. I'm looking for a free standing box. I think I have come up with a pretty good plan.

Looks ok, but I think I'll build mine. I'm toying with the idea of a long toilet seat, on a cut off kitchen can, using compactor bags with kitty litter... gotta get the measurements though.

The real trick is making it small and finding a place to put it...

I don't know about the hinges thing. But I did make a wooden box that sits my porta-potty up to a normal height. When not in use I flip the wooden box over, place the porta-potty in it and slide it under the Etrack bed. Works well for us if we need it.

first time I had to use the porta-potty for number 2 I was sick and couldn't make it to the campgrounds toilet
I like you found them to be to close to the ground hard to sit hard to get up first thing I did when I got home
was raise it to house toilet height about 14-16 inches.
I enclosed it in a two hinged lidded box, the lid covered the top and down the front folded up it became the back rest
worked very well too bad I sold the pop-up trailer

Since I rough it when I camp I don't have to worry about those porta potty's being too short. I am usually out where no else is.

When it comes to nature calling this is much more comfortable than dealing with those tiny porta potty's, I can adjust the height to a comfortable level. Waste can then be disposed of in a proper way, and usually is not right next to my camp site. When it comes to the middle of the night a short walk is much better than smelling up the trailer.
As for taking up space I have modified the chair to fold up when not in use.

Thanks for the link to the chair. My Dad is 92 and travels with me. This chair will work great right over the porta-potty and give him arms to grab on his way down. I could use the help myself....

The portable toilet is a great idea and I give credit to who ever designed it,I bought the one that has the battery powered push buttom water fill.
The only thing I didn't like is haveing to dump and clean it so I cut a hole in the bottom of mine and bought a pvc drain and with some clear window caulking I sealed it and ran the pvc pipe down and then elbowed it and put a screw on cap on the end and for about 15.00 all I have to do is unscrew the cap and drain it then when I get home I take the water hose into the trailer and flush it out real good and refill the top part of the toilet.
It has worked great.
