Greetings from one who is new to this great forum. Allow me to put an idea out for thumbs up/down:

A false wall just inside the rear door of a cargo trailer conversion seems to me like a good place to put a large window,
and perhaps a 120V hookup as well. Allows use of ordinary (not RV) window hardware, and easy 2X3 framing installation.
I'm not trying for stealth camping, just an easy way to mod the trailer for camping.

Looking around tnttt, I have found examples by kstephenson, lonerider, and LShrew.

Any opinion about doing it this way? Any issues I don't foresee?

I have rear barn doors on my trailer and found that I use the rear for loading and unloading many things.
So it would be a no go in my case. Side door is big enough for most things, but the rear is much easier to access.

I am thinking about the same setup as you rowboat.
I am thinking I will bolt it in so that I can take it back out Carly easy.

I have seen some with a wall that is a good place to put AC unit and store spare tire and even have an outdoor kitchen.
lots of reasons to go that way if you want no reason not to if that's what you like it's one thing that makes doing a CT mod
having it the way you like it if down the road you decide you don't like it seems easy to remove.

I made mine with wheels so you can open it and close it,my golf cart goes in and out with no problem.
I also put a screen door in and screened the rest.
one of the main reason I did mine was so I could put in a small window AC and saved a ton of money not haveing to put the AC on the roof.

Hi Rowboat, welcome to the forum, lots of info here, learning myself here everyday, thanks to the others.

That said, I have a cargo trailer on order, and my plan has been all along (before I found this forum and saw other have done the same) was to build a permanent wall about 2 foot inside the read doors of mine, to install a window and to put an A/C unit thru that wall, a breaker box, etc. In the space I plan to carry my scooter, keep my battery, my generator, grill, and maybe a galley area, and my lawn chairs, etc.

One can pickup a 5000 btu 110AC window air condition for $100 at big box and not woory about a roof leak or sidewall leak, or sticking out in the way, etc. Sounds like a win win to me.

Trainman, I'll have to consider that I may need to load things through the rear door.
Partsman and pete42, I also was thinking the wall would be easy to remove later,
especially if bolted rather than nailed. jwhite and papaw, I agree that would be the
way to install AC, if I ever get in a climate warm enough to need it.

Right now my rear wall gives me plenty of extra ventilation and the two cargo doors gives me easy access to items stored under the seating/bed area.

This set up worked nicely last year.

Mine works pretty good and I didnt have to give up much space. It allows me to use an inexpensive 5 K Air Cond unit and also room for a 2 x 2 window.
Also mounted back there is my spare tire and 2 deep cycle batteries.
I run my shore power connector and cord through there as well.
I would highly recommend this design
