Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hi all:

I'm new to the forum, although have been reading posts for a while. I am considering building out a 7x15 toy hauler, but am wondering about folks experiences with the water-tightness of the rear drop-down doors. I ask, because I'm thinking of a bed back there, and don't want to have to fight a lot of leak issues. Are these ramp/doors generally pretty good?

Mine is not 100% water tight. I think some of my issue is the weather stripping up top of mine is a little cut up. During a very hard rain I will get a few spots of water run down on the inside. It pretty much just runs straight down the ramp door to the floor and then finds its way out. My bed is also back there but doesn't tough the ramp so it hasn't been a problem.. I'm sure If I took the time to replace the weather stripping it could be made water tight easily enough. The doors are pretty solid and the camp style latches on the outside suck the door down pretty good. So short answer not mine isn't 100% but I'm sure it could be.

For as representitive of the style as it may be, my ramp door equipped Cargo Mate doesn't leak at all. The only water that gets in is what I track in on my shoes.
I was working in it yesterday in torrential rain and the big door leaked nary a drop.

Mine has been water tight from what I have seen. There is a layer of weather stripping around the opening, and there is a little "gutter" above the door. Its a Interstate Loadrunner, so its not a very expensive trailer either. It's stored outside, and most of the time the trailer is pitched toward the rear, since the jack is all the way up.

It's been raining off and on here all week and i don't have any water in side my doors. It also has a seal and drip cap over top of door.

Yup. I have had my Cargo Craft in some torrential downpours and zero leaks. Had a bed that folded out from the ramp door for a while before splitting it and moving it to the side walls. If you have a good weatherstrip you should be fine.

I have a well cargo trailer.
Never had any leaks around the ramp.
Driven through some pretty nasty storms and the only leaks detected were one in the front coming from a bad seal between two sheets of outside aluminum and the other two were from water coming in the two vents on the side. One vent high on the front driver side wall and the other lower on the back passenger side. You can see water marks from where the rain came in. On that trip I had the motorcycles in the back along with tent camping gear. The motorcycles and camping gear was all dry. No dirty mist on the motorcycles which made me happy to not have to clean them again.
I would like to point out that the rubber seal on one side of the ramp door was coming loose. I cleaned it up with alcohol and super glued it back in place.

My 6x12 Wells Cargo is of '97 vintage; barn doors at rear and no side door. It has been through several hard rains; not a drop of water inside. My newest toy, '07 6x12 t/a Wells Cargo Road Force that I bought this week, sat outside in a recent near 4" rain. Also I turned the water hose on every seal on it looking for leaks. No water got inside. I looked at a '93 W/C last week that has spent every day of its life outside; it did have a couple of water marks on inside wall.

My 6x10 has barn and side doors. Sunday, we got over 4 inches in under 2 hours. Not a drop inside. I was amazed, as I had a pool inside my garage.
