Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Has anyone ever tried drilling small hole in the wall panels
and spraying canned foam into the void? I realize this is
a risky question, as it may be a stupid question.

It will work but to do it right you need to do multiple holes so you can tell when the void is full, there is a slow rise foam that should be used.
The company I work for has a spray foam division so I will hopefully have them spray my interior with closed cell foam when the time comes.

I saw a show on a foam made from soybeans.
Looked pretty cool.

I have thought about adding foam but not the spray can type but the spray on type
I haven't a clue as to the cost but it sure would deaden the sound and insulate very well
wonder how it would hold up under the trailer even if it comes off seems to me it would
be in use for years before it did come off.

during the research phase of my DIY van conversion i came across some who had used the canned spray foam. What they found out the hard way was that in quite short order (months) they had rust showing up on frame/steel due the the foam trapping moisture. So after much pondering i went another route. the biggest issue is if you are going to use the foam, make sure there is an escape route for water due to condensation and such.

The key is to use closed cell foam wich acts as a vapor barrier, open cell foam is permeable or allows moisture to pass through. I believe the small cans you get at hardware stores are open cell.

I tried it on my trailer. I thought I had done a pretty good job, but when I finally had time to open the walls - there was nowhere near enough insulation. I ended up ripping it out, and putting in the foam board insulation.

I have used the spray can foam to keep the foam board insulation in place in the curved areas where walls meet the ceiling and the top nose fiberglass area. These locations will be covered but will have ventilation to remove moisture. The CT will never be closed off completely. That is death to any enclosed trailer due to condensation build up. I have always installed Maxair roof vent covers and left the vent open all the time when parked. In Texas we have such a broad temperture fluctuation that condensation builds up very easy. To do the walls, like pvangel said, it takes mulitple holes to do it properly. It is done the same as spray fiber insulation. If you have seen an old house that has had this done you will see plugs every few feet between the studs.

I put the foam into my door only, but there are 2 kinds & i used the expanding kind... DUH STUPID !!
My whole door got bent out of shape & looks like there was an explosion inside the trailer...
or i'm about to give birth to an alien.

It does however work great on sticking roof panels to the roof, as that sticky foam sticks to everything
