Introducing my 7-14 v nose conversion built 7 yrs ago.

I have followed this board for several years on the side lines and got many ideas from here. Thanks to all!!! I hope to show you my build as it progressed over a three month period in early 2008. I currently have about 30,000 miles on my build going to many motorcycle rallys and now hauling an 8ft boat to various fishing locations. My plan was to build a toyhauler that my 1/2 ton truck could pull without having to upgrade to a 3/4 ton. I was successful!! The interior shot here is before it was completed but should give you some idea. More detailed photos to follow if I can get them off my old laptop before it croaks completely

The day it came home. I had planned on building one of these for several years and in 2008 found this 2007 trailer for sale by a man in the nail and fastener business. Needless to say his business had taken a nosedive and I was able to pick this up for $3.5k. New retail was over $8500!!!!!

I'll go ahead and start with a couple of obligatory insulation pics. Not going to cover this as it has been beaten to death on this forum. Used foil up under the front cap also. This part should be self explanatory to anyone planning to do this.

One of my very first decisions was what to do with the spare tire that was mounted inside up on the left wall. This was my decision and works great.

My buddy and I were going to many many motorcycle rallys at the time using our Full Dresser bikes pulling trailers loaded with tents, coolers, and everything including the kitchen sink. We were pretty comfortable tent camping to say the least. About three years down the road he up and bought a 20ft toyhauler and having our own bathroom and shower forever put an end to our tent camping days. (enough of the porta jons after several thousand drunks) I decided the absolute must was a nice size shower. The whole floorplan design would hinge on the shower and still be able to load two fullsize motorcycles into this 7 X 14 vnose. I purchased a 24 x 32in pan from PPL. As you can see in the picture there is a wheel chock in what's going to become a bathroom. That will be covered a little later.

This was to be my general floorplan with a lot of tweaking and minor changes as needed. Trailer would have a shower, porta potty, sink, fridge, microwave, TV-Dvd combo, Stereo system, and of course heat and Air. I went originally with a portable Heat and Air unit and that was really my only mistake in this whole design. Trailer now has a 13.5k roof unit.

The trailer is a 7 X 14 V-nose. 12 foot box plus 2 ft in the nose. 7 X 14 box would have made my life much easier but I was able to make this work with very careful planning.

Next on the list before any real construction started was to add leveling jacks and a step to make it possible to get everything level and entry easier on my old knees. The door normally is very low to the ground and the step usually isn't needed, but where I was working the door ended up being quite high off the ground in order to level the trailer.

I have the same shower pan and it;s great alot better than trying to make something yourself.
When I decided to build a toyhauler haveing the shower and toilet was at the top of the list of things I wanted,
Most of the places I go to I am boondocking = they may have a bathroom but it could be in the club house and locked after hours some places do have bath houses but I don't like useing them.
Here is something I did and it works great I made a drain from the bottom of my portable toilet out of PVC with a cap so I don't have to take the portable toilet out and dump it and clean it,I just uncap the end of the pipe and it all drains out,when I get home I take a hose inside the trailer and flush it out and refill the top part of the toilet with water. best 15.00 I spent ?
I have a couple photos in the album.
When I am ready to drive home esp= if I am hot a sweaty now I can load eveything up and take a shower and change clothes before I make a long drive home.

Next was a very simple mod of adding a vent cover and replacing the overheard lights that were inadequate. I would use to original lights elsewhere in the build.

Vent cover added. This was a must since it was rainy and snowy during much of the build.

Now about that wheel chock that is going to be in the way along with 2 D-rings. Fortunately the chock was framed underneath with steel angle iron so with a little trimming a piece of plywood easily filled the hole and the holes for the D-rings had metal backing plates underneath. A little bondo and some sanding and the floor is done and ready for tile.

Added a radio antenna and powered vent for the bathroom. Cutting that big hole in the roof was a little nerve racking. Mistakes were not allowed here. This vent also received a Maxair vent cover.
