I have a LCD in my cargo trailer. I went with a Roadstar 2000 OminDirectional antenna.. Works great, no adjusting, pointing, ect.. Mount it on the roof and you never touch it again.. Cost was around 100 dollars online.
Here is what it looks like on the roof.. Ignore the mess the photo was taken when I was installing the solar panels

that antenna has an amplifier built in to it. There is a twelve volt power source that mounts on the wall or ceiling on the inside of your unit. they are connected by a piece of coax antenna cable. The coax carries the 12 volt up to the antenna and The signal from the antenna to the inside. you then have a peice of coax going to the TV set. I put on on my airstream and here in the Tampa area could pick up more than 20 stations The only thing is you must have a 12 volt line going to the power supply unit. Curt

I used a little digital antenna I got offline for $59.00. It comes with cable, rotator and power supply. I mounted it on an old camera tripod. Works great! It comes off for travel (held down with bungee strap) and takes about 2 minutes to set up. THe cable just runs through the back door seal. I set it up after the bikes come out.

We have both a Jack antenna and a dish for satellite, both use the same mast. The suction cup mount works great.

Exactly what he said.. It comes with a wall plate that has a 12v outlet on it and a on off switch.. On the back of the wall plate it has a connection for 12v the antenna and to the TV.. On the front of the wall plate it also has another connection for a TV. Everything you need plus instructions comes with it.. It needing the 12v is a good thing. A powered amplifier will give you better reception then the same size antenna with out one..

I am interested in that digital setup. Can you share where you ordered that setup online? TV is not a necessity but a bonus to have when trying to settle kids down for midday nap.

Thanks

As far as I know, there is no real difference between digital antennas and analog antennas. It all comes down to the tuner.

I have an antenna on my house, and I think I only paid about $30 for it. Here's a good site with a lot of info regarding antennas, and it can provide you with a heading to point your antenna if its directional.

Thanks

I am familiar with that website. I was interested in the type of antenna you had. I like that setup and was looking for something like that compact and easily portable. I do have one at home now. Its a channel master I believe. Its pretty good just doesn't seem to receive all the channels I should be receiving via antenna web's recommendations. Could be the digital box? I have had two different boxes give different receptions as well as two different antennas.

I suppose someone might want to spend couple hundred dollars for a nice fancy-smancy antennae.
I found the plans for mine online and did this:

Which gave me this nice picture:

I updated later to a HD TV and it's still a great picture. Several local channels at a pop for news and weather. Who really needs more?

They are called over the air antennas (ota).

Sorry, I haven't been out to this site in a few weeks. I got my antenna from these folks. It works great. I am buying another for my house. I like having backup if cable goes out and some stations are much better HD off the Air.
