Been therePortables work ok in the shade or when temps aren't too hot and at night. Direct sun during the heat of summer and it will not be very comfortable inside in the daytime. You can get an RV roof A/C delivered to your door from PPL for not much more than most portables cost. An RV roof A/C will also cool your trailer down in just a few minutes whereas the portable will take a LONG time if ever.

If you buy a good portable it will do the job just fine. Do not buy a single hose portable - dual hose only and buy the highest rated one you can find. Mine is rated 14,000 BTU. http://www.whynter.com/productdetail/ai ... ioners/305 I have tested mine during the day in the middle of summer in full sun in an uninsulated trailer and it did cool it down. It did take some time to do so though.
I am now considering a roof top just to get back the floor space that the portable uses.

It is very nice to have extra cabinet space in place of where that big portable sat taking up room.
