Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Recently bought a 2013 Road Force by Wells Cargo 7X16V. Already has finished walls, window and an RV door. Have AC and electric service installed right now. When I get it back I will build a cabinet in the V so we have a place for the coffee pot and small flatscreen as well as some storage. This will be fairly plain Jane. We have spent years on the ground in tents, but those days are over.








It will be kept pretty simple. I do not cook when we are on vacation so no kitchen. Places we stay all have toilets and showers so we are good there. But we do want a better bed idea. I would like to come up with a simple fold down bed platform. My Trike needs over 5' of clearance coming into the trailer. It will be backed in and secured towards the nose of the trailer. My wife's bike will be towards the rear of the trailer. Bikes will not sleep inside when we are using it as a tent on wheels.

So what we want is a bed idea that will fold up out of the way, be fast and easy to set up and hopefully made of wood. I build furniture as a hobby. So any examples you have feel free to send them my way or post here. We plan to use bed liner on the floor and ramp. Walls most likely will get some color on them as the bright white is too, well, white!

I don't have a folding bed plan for you. However, If I had a trailer your size, I'd still stay with a permanent bed so I didn't have to fold and un-fold the thing all the time, but I don't haul a trike either. I just like having my bed ready to crawl into any time, whether driving and getting tired, wanting to take an afternoon nap, or hitting the sack after fishing past dark. Whatever you end up doing, that thing looks SWEET! The sky's the limit with what you're starting with. Your plan to keep things simple is right on too. No since making "vacations" more work than they need to be, or needing a vacation after your vacation to take care of too many details. We'll be watching!

And yes, I have sold ALL my tents!

The Hauling the large Trike makes it difficult to not have a folding bed. Big Red is, well BIG! (Not that I am tiny or anything!)

I am going to use 4" cushions from http://www.thefoamfactory.com/ I have design pics and unfinished build pics posted. Hopefully I be posting installed picks tomorrow. With the 4" cushions, 3/4" seat base and 1 1/4" angle iron support with legs, I should have about 58" between them. 2" short of the 60" you want. There are many build options that could be made into this type to fit your needs. Looking forward to your build. Good luck!!

They will be glad to cut the cushions for an addition $100. I think I'll cut my own. They do have good email customer support. I told them about my wife's back problems and what I was using it for. I need something that was very firm. They replied and suggested this product. So if you have any questions they do respond quickly.

Despite mother nature not being cooperative some progress has been made.

Attwood 13,500 btu AC unit has been mounted. Wiring has been completed.

It will now sit behind the house waiting for me to add the counter top, cabinets, tie down spots for not only the bikes but to secure the beds etc to the side wall.

Went with a Parallax Series 7300 power center. This will be in the nose under the counter top all by it's self. Right now it's secured to the floor.





30 amp shore service will run everything. Also have a cable TV hook up as we might want to put a small flat screen in so we can watch the news at night and the weather in the morning.


Made sure we have outside 110v also. Plenty to run a small compressor if we need to.

Found an issue with this V-Nose that I did not anticipate.

My weight distributing hitch will not work on this trailer. Because of the way the V comes forward on the frame the Spring Bars are way too long. Shortening them won't work as there isn't enough room on the left side of the frame to attach clamps too because of the 12v battery for the breaks. I have contacted Curt and hopeful that they will come up with a solution.

Quick question ... How many RV's do you see with the 'mini 12 volt battery???

Ya don't as their brakes are wired to the House battery(s) of the trailer. If yours
is inside then all you need to do is re-wire the brake wires to it and eliminate the 'Mini'
Or you can move the 'Mini' indoors.
