Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hello all, it has been a long time since I have posted to this forum.
We have had our CTC for some time now, and we have always used an
Electric recirculating toilet. It works great except for one problem, the smell!!

I have decided to replace it with a regular RV toilet. Our trialer is very low to the ground and it does not have much space to mount a black water tank. I want to build a box over the BW tank and place the toilet on top of that box. It will mean having to step up into the bathroom area, but that will not be a problem.

Anyone have pictues of something like this? Does a RV Toilet mount directly on top on a BW tank or is there a trap between them? I do know that a vent will also have to be added. Any thoughts, suggestions will be welcomed. Del

I was going to put in something like your talking about,but I decided to alter the toilet I had by putting in a drain from the bottom of the portable toilet.
I have not done it yet because I only camp a few days but I will be camping for about a week in May and I will be out in a field and I plan to dig a hole below the drain and after a few days let it go and then cover the hole.
I know you can't do that in some places but I always dry camp in the woods or a field so I don't see it as a problem.

GOOGLE "toilet shower pan combo" images and you will see several examples where the one piece molded shower pan has a stepped side with a holding tank mounted below.

The whole assembly would mount at floor level and you would use a low rise toilet for the proper seat height. The RV toilet sits directly on top of the pan/tank with no trap, just a standard floor flange.

The holding tank has a bottom drain which would require a hole through the floor and an appropriate elbow and waste valve. You would need a separate set-up for the shower drain if you decide to use it and a separate holding tank if in a area where you can't discharge gray water directly into the soil.

carrying one of these (15 gal.),

to handle the black stuff and 3"black PVC is the recomended size
for allowing the appropreate fittings to use it with out it clogging up.

When I did that Google search, I found this viewtopic.php?f=54&t=52766 from this forum. I will not be including a shower in my unit, but the shower pan could still be useful when we need to hang up wet items.

Now all I need to do is get busy!!

I do not remember who has it in their build, but there is someone who did what you first mentioned. They enclosed the black tank inside the CT and set the toilet on top. The height of the box plus toilet put it up close to the height of a regular home toilet. It was a nice setup. It can be done even if it is taller. You would just have a step up. Position the toilet where your feet are resting on the enclosure and not the floor.
