Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

A Legend in the making

Postby poordad » Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:05 pm

this will be my second trailer conversion, I have a pretty good idea of what Im going to do this time and as long as I can keep from rushing it or slapping it together to get camping again it should turn out nice. I plan on getting windows and insulation in as soon as possible for summer camping then work on a wet bath, kitchenette, beds and cabinetry this winter.

I chose a 7 x 19' Legend Deluxe V nose for the toys I want to haul and because these things are made really well and look good too.

I look forward to any advice and comments as the build gets going

That is one fine trailer! But I think you need a new username, It will be fun to watch your progress.

I say to match the outside you need to spend at least $20k on the interior & solar :D :D :D :D :D

 thanks Woodbutcher it took some time to decide to go for it and Poordad definitely sums me up now for sure :)

I wouldn't know where to start on the solar tech that you are working on Over the top but the best thing about these builds is changes and upgrades are always an option ;)

I got to take a good look all around in the walls and under it today and I think you will be impressed with the trailers, they are made over your way so there should be a decent market competition  .

I got started on the window frames today, not much but a start all the same  . I am going to be riveting in the frame pieces so I don't have to weld so close to the bonded skin and insulating each section as I go.

thanks I think it will work well for years :)

I decided to rivet the tab pieces on and then alumaweld the pieces of the frame before screwing the frames in place it should support the window well and is pretty strong, I used 1" angle and notched it to fit over the frame tubes.

I was able to work on the windows some today and got one window in as well as work out some installation techniques at the same time :) only three more to go ;)

I followed the frame with a flush cut router bit first on the skin then mounted the plywood and followed from the inside :NC  only a couple of small scratches so I am happy so far :)

I got three of the windows in and the last one goes in the door so I can get to that when I get the chance so for now I'm going to focus on finishing the insulation and paneling for an upcoming camp trip :)

Looking good, but you gotta spend more on the interior

Get some Drexel Heritage furniture - to match the exterior
& so both of us can be broke :D :D :)

poordad,

BEAUTIFUL trailer!

Prem

P.S. I would thru-bolt those square tubes. Screws can work their way out over time.
My goal...
