Conversion Insurance Coverage Problem

I have dealt with State Farm Insurance for almost ten years. The people the own and operate the office I deal with I have known for 30 years, went to church with them. Just to say that these people "should" be very knowledgable.
OK, I "pulled the trigger" and had a deal set up on a 6x12 V-nose Pace American Journey. I went by the get coverage and chit chat led to me stating I was converting it to an RV/Camping trailer. I was told that if I modified it in any way the adjuster would rule it a "Home built", void the coverage, and refuse any losses.
I explained that I was not altering the structure of the trailer itself, not even adding windows. in fact I planned it for dual purpose, IE, the RV style Items will be built as easily removable components.
"any appliances?" i was asked, "yes dorm fridge and microwave built into a removable cabinet.
"Any Stove?", "No stove."
"Plumbing?" "No, None"
" Any wiring?" "No."
"Then How are you going to power the fridge and microwave?" " a hole drilled in the floor for an extension cord.
The ruling was "The adjuster would see the hole and rule it a home built and refuse"
Now, I am new at this, is this really normal? I mean they insured it, and even placed on the application that I would be living in the unit for 30 days a year. ( they asked me I stated 30 days and did not call it to their attention, it does appear on the application, LOL). Anyone else have this problem?
Who do ya'all recommend to insure these conversions? Any good online places?
Thanks

Well I guess the firm of Smith, Wesson, Mossberg & Ruger handle that end of the coverage. LOL. However, Should I not be around to employ the "FIrm"

or in the very rare instance when I make a bonehead move (checking...yep still human) and sideswipe the trailer against a utility pole, I would like to know its covered.
Thanks

So, how does Glock, or Ruger pay you if a tree limb falls on your camper?

My insurance company (Safeco) told me any trailer I pulled was covered by my insurance but since I only carry liability and I wanted full coverage, they will insure the trailer for the price I paid and give me full coverage on it for $10.00 a month.I could insure it as an RV but the DMV told me that it needed a bed and cooking area and no,a sleeping bag and microwave do not count

I asked!

My trailer and contents are insured under a personal articles policy with State Farm. Tell them its used in your hobby of ___________ and name the value your interested in. The cost will be determined by the value you insure for. BEWARE that in the event of a loss they will normally REPLACE/REPAIR your items if it will save them a single cent over paying out actual money!!!
Please also consider your answers to questions on the application carefully. For example when explaining why you need a gas stove in your trailer NEVER give funny answers like "backwoods chemistry" as this will result in a man with a nice dog carefully examining your trailer and asking lots of questions...
Please also note that this type of insurance will exclude you from liability coverages when the trailer is not hooked to your vehicle. IE: it is unhooked at a location and rolls downhill into something of value.

Or struck by a car going through an intersection or fire/flood damage over the winter or towed off your driveway when your at work. Insurance is for the stuff you don't expect and can't control.

I have state farm insurance on my CT and didnt have any of those problems at all. It was easy and they saw in person and said it was valued at 15K and I pay the yearly charge and I am good to go. You need to shop around or find another agent. You are going through way to many road blocks there.

as some stated above I requested a stated value RV policy for liability theft and collision, name the value you want it insured for and document the add-ons for replacement.

I dropped SF when they wanted to double my premium when I checked on adding my 15 yr old son.

Moved over to Geico and it added $1 to what I was originally was paying SF.

Awe now Jerry, not everyone has to put up with the Kaliforicate stuff out there.

We got a lot less Gov control here in Texas!!

The only thing that mattered was I told em I couldn't and wouldn't afford that. I went shopping. SF didn't add him for a dollar. Geico's rate were low enough it made the difference. I didn't know how much I was getting screwed by SF. That was 15+ yrs ago and haven't looked back. Even the sweet lady that worked the desk at SF said she didn't blame and if she didn't work there she would change too.

Ha Ha Earnest
Maybe that agent was very hungry for your business & massaged the data a little.
Cali vs. Texas
You get screwed just as much in Texas as we get it in screwed Calif, I know because I got property there,
And I have spent a lot of time in Texas.
as a mater of fact I can PROVE TO YOU ... You can live cheaper. "retired" in Cali then Texas
But I don't wanna get into a long protracted argument.
Let's just say there is good & bad both sides of that coin & I'm not looking to convert anybody from either side
Texas only gives advantage to the guy who makes over $200k .....
If you were in that ballpark .... You would most likely not be on this form

but the air stream or Prevost form.
