Rear Ramp/Door Question

Any chance you think this might work. Cargo Trailer purchase with rear ramp and have a RV Door installed in it. I really would like a rear entry door instead of side door. However for marketing purposes down the road without a ramp door or barn doors would severely limit the market. I probably way out in left field on the thought process however i like the thought process this forum has. though with a door cut out of the ramp it would make the ramp almost useless, maybe I already answered my question. Thanks

foamer1,

It is possible. My warped vision is a heavy piece of diamond plate that is reinforced with square tubing that stretches past the limits of the door. It could be where it hinges out of the way or completely removable. It would be about 1 1/2" higher than the rest of the ramp but it is do-able. Just depends on how bad you want it.

I have thought of installing a window in my ramp. I would use the heavy diamond plate to cover it when I needed the ramp. It would not need to be reinforce since the area of the window is smaller. I haven't completely thrown the idea out the window but right now it is more work to modify my ramp for a window than I care to do at this time. (I just don't want it bad enough)

I have 2 ideals to run buy you 1st ideal is to take ramp off and build a new wall with door built in and when you want to sell it down the
road take it out and put ramp door back in. 2nd ideal is build a wall inside just enough so ramp door will close and put door in it
and use ramp door as a porch and they make a tent like thing that will fit on porch/door so you can sit on it out of weather. Well
hope this helped you out.

Building a false wall inside the ramp door is a pretty common way to handle it. Here is a link to a picture (not my trailer or picture, sorry about the orientation)

There are many variations on this, but usually it is building a false wall inside where the rear door closes, and then building in a door (opening, sliding, etc) into it. It is also a way to build in a wall mount air conditioner without cutting into the walls of the trailer. It gets built into the rear false wall next to the door. My friends trailer is that way, but unfortunately no pictures of it.

All excellent ideas! Thank you! I wonder why I cannot think of these things on my own. I have another question in regards to the ramp however I will start a new thread. Thanks again for the insight.

foamer01,
Sometimes it takes a different type of twisted mind to come up with off the wall ideas! :FNP Some of them actually work the first time you go for it!
