Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

We picked up our new trailer from TrailerShowroom at the Independence,Oregon Cargo River manufacturing site last week on Tuesday.Have pretty much just been staring at it for a week.If I knew then what I know now,would have just ordered the base trailer from them and had the modifications done at a local shop.My husband wanted dark grey,I wanted white,we compromised on light metallic pewter grey.I thought it would be a lot lighter and I don't like the color but my husband loves it.Neither one of us like the 15x30 horizontal windows (4) but we like the 15x30 vertical window we had put in the door.We have already decided we should have put 3 of the windows in different locations.The luan ceiling is up very nicely,but I thought it would be all screws used to put it up and I could just take it down to insulate.Screws yes but also a whole lot of staples-enough that George says I will basicly have to destroy the ceiling to get it down.We had a massive fight about ceiling insulation-ceiling stays up but I know next summer I will have to rip it down and insulate it when he admits he is wrong because he hates heat! We did just about everything wrong and it is all on us.We will spend the winter working on it,we will enjoy it but if someone offered me what I paid for it,it would be gone in a heartbeat.Now to learn all of our lessons on the build! That shoud be entertaining.Will post pictures soon.I now view this as a practice trailer-I bet I buy another one in a couple of years,probally from TrailerShowroom, I'll just know a little more.

I will be very interested to see pictures and read about more detailed information. If you can save me some hassle I am all about that. The window problem has me tuned in. The trailer I am taking some ideas from also has horizontal windows. I can see where placement is key. Keep sharing.

Could you expand on what is wrong with the window placement so maybe some of us can learn?

It would be better to sell it new , before mods if yor serious , should be easy to sell for
What you got into it on Craigslist. Might take 2-4 weeks or so.

MtnDon I bet they don't like wide windows as they take up all the wall space,
I don't even have room for windows, besides LEDS work great.

To each their own.... we love large windows. Not sure I would want 4 of the 30x15 H though, but that depends on the trailer length (and width)

I also love LED's; compared to alternate artificial light sources.

Sorry for the fight! A build in not worth that much effort. Choose something better to fight about like which toilet paper to buy (fluffy or corn cobs). You know, the real important stuff. Take some time with you new CT. Sit in it and invision what you can do with it as it is. If you can't come up with something that you would like, i would follow Jerry's advice. If your not going to be happy with it, sell it before you sink any money into it. Shoot, you might even make money on it. I have seen people pay more than retail value for things like that on Craigslist. Start high so if they try to low ball you, you can cut them a deal by coming down to what you paid for it. They'll walk away thinking they stole it.

George and I fight about everything-we are both very strong personalities. Absolute opposites.I wanted to draw the build plan on the pavement,George told me he had it figured out.Same guy who did not realize the 60/40 rule meant the 60 went forward of the axel.I did not find that out until after we ordered.Windows only open 3 1/2 inches on the 15x30 horizontial.Not enough air for us,should have ordered fewer but larger windows. Should have also taken all of our weight and figured out where it was going.We are not spending that much on the build,I'd like to learn the rest of my lessons on this trailer.We just had very poor planning.The bathroom wound up with no window or vent.George thought they had put the baggage door for the slide out ac in the wrong place until I showed him the copy of his build.Thats why I made the copy We are rookies and it shows! Should have put the build on the forum and asked for advice.Will take pictures!! It really is a nice looking trailer.

After you get into your build, you might actually decide that you like it more than you think right now!! Take your time and study it. Don't be surprized if your plans change, but that is all part of the fun with a personalized build.

WOW you have no idea how long it took me to figure out how to post a picture!

baggage door for a/c this is the only position that this window allows,no higher,no lower this is a 15x30 horizontal window 8 1/2x 20 TailWind by Continental Cargo. We had them leave off the stripping to make it easier to take the side panels off to insulate.The luan ceiling is both stapled and screwed up so I can't figure out how to get it down without destroying it.Any suggestions?

They sure make simple things difficult for no reason other than they can. I have had luck using needle nose pliers and a screw driver. Light prying to get the staple to come out a little so I could grab hold of the staple and pull. Are the staples in a strip over the luan or in the luan itself? If they are in a strip you should be able to get under the strip and pry it off. Some staples will stay in but you can pull them out. Welcome to the world of CT conversions. You'll need a few of these to get you thru it, but it is well worth it.
