Heng's escape hatch on roof

Postby AZKayaker » Sun Dec 15, 2013 10:46 pm

I had one of these on my old Datsun P/U camper. I was about 18" taller than the camper, and when I wanted to get dressed, stretch or just check things out, I'd open up the hatch. I am looking at getting a low profile (5' high interior) CT to convert and plan on installing one. I don't recall what brand my camper had in it, but is anybody familiar with this companies hatches?

Yup. That's the same one I had in my homebuilt camper as the escape hatch in the cab-over bed. They are more sturdy than the little, common 14 x 14 vents. The top on mine was actually opaque white fiberglass. Never had a problem with it leaking.

AZKayaker & Prem, Howdy;

How hard (difficult), is it to get past that center support, or does it flop out of the way when
hit hard enough???

You pull a latch and the dome, screen and frame hinge up & over. Pretty slick

Here is one for $109 at Amazon.
Wonder if that is a good price...seems high, but I am no expert in this area.
Wonder if my backside will make it through this size. I did notice a bigger one available.

I really like the idea of these. I wonder how this would work on my CT? My CT roof has a curve to it, but not as much in the middle as on the sides.

Get on eBay and search for "boat ventilation hatch". There's some high quality stuff out there.
