RV awning install

Has anyone here installed a RV awning on there trailer ? I have only found one video on youtube and it looks like they drilled a couple holes through the wall and bolted it on it looks simple.
I wish I had the factory install it from the start but being cheap I passed because I was going to use the (new ezup) I had bought,
the last time I wanted to use the ezup it had some broken arms and I had to jackleg it together with duct-tape I have fixed it but it looks bad where it's bolted together.
I guess I could go to camping world and see what they charge to install one ?

I had a bag awning last year just ordered a Dometic 8500 patio awning from CW the twelve foot long just call them today to see if it was in yet. maybe next week. It should not be that hard to install. I've had the same model before on a camper I took apart. I put that one on my house for a while. Now I will be selling this spring. It was too long for my ct. If you are a camping world member they had told me that installation would be $39.00. They had a promotion thing going that said they would install anything for $39.00. I'm not sure how long they will have that going on for.

There is a good one out there. I will try and get the name of it. The legs and all fold into it ,so it is self contained. Really nice. A guy in our group has it. Let me see if I can get a website for you.

I've been keeping an eye on the wrecking yards for a vanagon with an awning. No luck yet, but I think it could be perfect.

They come in different lengths i think 8ft is the max a little more work to put up but cheaper then the RV ones..

And if your browse the website and related ones, you can find many other ideas that go along with the awning. I find the awning on the back of of a trailer/vehicle interesting. I did not find the images on this site, but rather I googled it and looked at these images.

Thanks for the links I found a place locally that sells truck toppers and also sells and installs awnings on trailers.
he quoted me between 600.00 and 900.00 installed he said it takes him 2 hours so it could be done the same day.
the truck toppers are 1500.00.
I think that would do it for me, I have thought about having a awning on both sides of the trailer?

After having the wind tear a couple different awning off of Rvs I went back to an easy up canopy.

We have three all attach to Kedar railing attached with 3M VHB tape

Many of the awnings that I have seen are attached to the trailer using awning rail, which is just screwed into the side of the cargo trailer. I just removed the screws holding the roof trim strip on, marked the hole positions on the rail and replaced the screws through the rail. It probably took me all of about 20 minutes, including running a bead of silicone down the back of the rail before putting it up. Your awning just slides into the rail with the a bead. Others use a tarp folded over piece of 550 cord, and poles out on the edge. There are a lot of designs out there that are possibilities. Bag awnings are just mounted by sliding the mounting edge through the rail.

Installed the new awning last weekend. I followed the directions and it took about a half hour

I got an bag awning from AwningsRUS and it installed in 40 minutes. Easy to put the awning rail on and the awning slides in.

DW and I have a 7X14 trailer conversion, I did a tremendous amount of research on awnings that could be installed on our trailer, as the side door is very close to the top of
the trailer for a regular role out RV awning. I looked at bag awnings, pole and rope awnings, and others, but what I really wanted was a regular role out RV awning. So I decided to bit the bullet and order a Dometic 8500, with black hardware and checkered flag awning material, I was determined to make it work on the trailer. I got a stick of
awning rail and installed that and then installed the awning, the install was not hard at all and looks great, and works great. All that fretting for nothing.

So the bottom line a regular RV awning can be installed on a trailer conversion.
