Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

This has been rattling around in my head since I bought my trailer and I am stumped. My trailer has whats called a rain lock floor, its actually pretty amazing! Your pour whatever you want on it and it just beads up and rolls away. Looks like normal processed wood, just has a chemical seal to it. I would keep it bare, but my ATV tires, just one time going in, leave big black marks on it. What is everyones suggestion for covering this??? I thought about garage floor coating, or even berliner, but wondering how it would adhere to this sealant thats on there. Ideally I would like some coin mat, but seeing the price tag on that stuff, I'm thinking not

I primed mine then did roll on bed liner (Herculiner). My only complaint is that it does make it a little harder to clean. But, it is easy to touch up if needed and it's pretty tough. I like having texture on the ramp rear door also because they get pretty slick when wet otherwise. I have spilled oil on it and it cleaned up fine after soaking some dawn dish soap over it and sweeping over it with a stiff brush then rinsing it with water.

Edit: my floor had some type of treatment on it too, and the paint/bed-liner stuck to it fine.

The way my tables are set up I bought a rug at walmart for $20. I think they are 6x4 so it does not fit wall to wall and I really didn't need it.

Regardless of my floor covering method, I will most likely get a cut piece of indoor-outdoor carpeting from a box store.
Then when it is dirty, just take it out and wash it off. Then again, I will not have a wheeled "toy" in mine much like many of the posters here have. For me, I am thinking of the dirt tracked in during hunting seasons, at the beach and other off the grid camping.

Oh, and it cannot help but reduce the cold transfer from the floor by an ever so small increment during the colder months.

I'm planning to put in my 3/8" interlocking foam anti fatigue mats on Friday or Saturday. Will be reporting on the results following, but I think they'll be wonderful from all the positive reviews. I thought about those too, but I don't think they would work for me. My ATV steers like a skid steer, so if I bumped it one way or the other, Im pretty sure I would just rip them all up from the floor

I am currently building up my cargo 'toy hauler', 8.5x16 and I want a more 'home like', comfortable feel than expoxy chip floor that HD & Lowes sell or what most folks are doing. I am doing a vinyl floor with a nice slate stone look (that rolls up the walls a few inches) then I am going over the whole thing with a 2 part epoxy...which is totally bullet proof, oil and most chemical resistant, non marring...which is important for me because I haul dirtbikes that mark up floors horribly. And I can hose it all out.

I'm taking comments!! I plan on doing the floor in a few weeks so I'll let you know how it goes.

Sounds like a good project, Duderino. What clear epoxy are you using? Will it yellow? We used some a good while back that we ended up less than happy with. I think they have improved it a lot since then though.

Thanks for the welcome!! I've been lurking around for awhile and now that I'm making some headway on my trailer it's time to pop my head up!!

It's the same 2 part expoy that is used to go over chip seal garage floors...the stuff that's used when you get it professionally done. Your right about the yellowing but I'm not too concerned because the flooring is a brown slate so I'm hoping it won't be noticable!! I'm actually more worried about it being weirdly glossy. If it is I can always go over it with a polyurethane sealant to dull it down, and it would prevent yellowing due to UV protection. Hopefully I'm going to be able to do some samples.

I used the industrial tiles (not sure what you call the material) you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. It is inexpensive and goes down with some flooring glue and a razor knife to cut. I have had it in for about 4 years (these were pictures during the build) and it still looks great. It cleans up with a mop and looks great if you use the old Mop-N-Glo floor cleaner or Future wax. In an case, I was going for the checkerboard look and the vinyl laminated flooring was too expensive for me at the time. I just bought Black and White tiles... of course they come in many colors.

I use this as a toy hauler so I have had muddy dirtbikes in and out many time. It cleans up well.

I finally got my floor covering in today. These mats are not for hauling toys or any kind of equipment on. I just haul a bed and a chuck box. Human traffic and sometimes my dogs, and I still use a couple throw rugs. These 3/8" foam tiles will be good floor insulation for those cold mornings in my part of the world though. Comfortable to walk or sit on, easy on the eyes, easy to install, easy to replace, easy to clean. Did I say easy?
